My best and friend and I stayed for a much overdo mom's weekend (without the kids!) in early June. We had googled the wineries and other nearby sites to see, but once we arrived, we honestly didn't want to leave. The cabin is 100+ years old with original log walls-really cool for the history lover like me- but it's updated and modern with cute touches inside and out. You're in the woods, so you may see some bugs, and cell service was spotty, but that's the only negative. The owner's home is up the hill so they're nearby if you need anything. The wraparound deck is completely private with built in gas grill/bar, patio furniture, firepit. The darts were fun. Christmas lights at night kept it lit up outside but we could still see the stars. The best is the lake. It's clear, gorgeous and so serene. Bring a book, cooler, lunch and drinks- they have the rafts and pontoon boat (no extra charge!). There's also a gorgeous meadow-like yard in front of the barn that we didn't use, but it would accommodate a baseball game or even a wedding. Owners were sweet as could be (Rusty had a cake for us on arrival), but gave us privacy. Would highly recommend, and my friend Erin already booked a weekend in August to return with her husband. Tip: stop in Perryville Walmart on the way down (if coming from St. Louis) and stock up, and you won't need to leave. Staying here is like staying in your own private lake property. We loved every minute. Thanks Dave and Rusty for your hospitality!!
