Beautiful home

Beautiful home, amazing views, you can see the city lights of San José, I highly recommend. Did not have any problems we could comunícate easily with the person who had keys, she was very helpful when we had any questions.

Beautiful scenery and city escape

Our family with 2 parents and 3 adult kids really enjoyed our stay. The property manager was very helpful and responsive. Clean place and there was a dishwasher which we realised during our trip was a luxury. The neighbours did have some parties which we could hear but we were there at new years. Maybe other times are quieter.

Good home base

Jaw dropping views, lovely open concept house with a few things to do around the area. Pretty far from La Fortuna to day trip, but doable day trips to west coast beaches.

Great stay in Costa Rica

We had a great time here. The property manager, Eunice, did a great job with helping us before we even got there, recommending drivers, massage therapists, and chefs. This property is about a half hour to 45 minutes away from the San Jose Airport. Eunice met us there to give us a tour and the keys. The view from the backyard is beautiful. Very comfortable beds, sizeable kitchen and bathrooms, etc. There is no ac in the home, but there are 3 fans on the property, and it also doesn't get overly hot as far as temperature, so you should be okay without AC. Be sure to bring bug spray as well. We definitely recommend this property.

50th Birthday Celebration week

We had an amazing time while staying at the house. We had everything we needed for a week of family, fun & relaxation. Pool, property and surrounding area was amazing. The birds woke me up daily and I watched them and cows in the distance while I had my morning coffee. It was perfect.

Near Perfect

First off, the description and the photos listed with the property are accurate. The view is stunning and the house is both attractive and comfortable. Though it sleeps six, it felt to be the perfect size for just my wife and I. You can't go wrong with this rental for a Costa Rican adventure or romantic getaway (or both). Our only negatives (and hence the 4* rating), we're due to two issues. First was the hot tub in the master bedroom. My wife specifically picked this unit because of this (she's a soaker). It did not function properly the entire time of our stay. We contacted the property manager (who was otherwise fantastic) and she said she would send a handyman. Didn't happen. Consequently my wife was quite disappointed. The other issue was largely out of the owner's control. The house is a fair bit up a mountain just outside of Atenas in a nice upscale neighborhood. It is easy to access from the city. And it has spectacular views from the back AND from in front of the house. Due to these views from the front and its remoteness from the city, right in front of the unit has become a popular hangout for local young people to play their music, drink, socialize and do whatever. There is a gate preventing them from entering the property, but they can be loud and sometimes rude. It can be disconcerting coming home at night and finding a string of cars parked in front of your residence, all with their lights on, and at times blocking access to the property. We had the property manager call the police on Saturday night because she even stated it had become unreasonable. Though I elaborated on the negatives, don't let it take away from the overwhelming positives. The comfort, style and ambiance of the property is top notch. The reason it was only near perfect is due to those two specific issues which should be addressed.

First nights in Costa Rica

Everything was as described on the VRBO site. Atenas charming. Oscar the driver very helpful. We didn’t allow the leaky ice maker to dampen our stay. More rain in 2 days than our home in CA gets in a year. After staying at a few other VRBOs in CR, we appreciate the little touches like having salt , pepper and sugar available in the kitchen. Recommended Tim

Simply amazing!!!

This property is amazing the pictures don’t do it justice. The breathtaking views are even more beautiful from the infinity edge pool. The home is truly a castle in the sky. The wifi was very strong in every section of the home. Eunice the property manager is great and very accessible. This was a great way to end our trip immersed in the Pura Vida this home provides. Fantastic setting

The house was fantastic. we enjoyed the infinity pool and the wide assortment of colorful birds as neighbors. I would recommend this house for anyone who wants to kick back and relax with easy access to restaurants , groceries, bakeries,and the best pizza to end a long day with.

Everything the description says is true!!

Wish we had been able to stay in this home longer. We spent a week in Costa Rica and visited several areas and stayed in 3 different properties during our visit. We fell in love with this sweet little town and can’t wait to come back! We will definitely contact Sam to stay here again on our next visit to CR. They thought of everything in this house. I managed to get a terrible blister on one of our hikes and even found a bandaid in the bathroom for it. So grateful that they thought of the little things, too! We even had an iguana friend that kept visiting and we could hear him on the roof several times! Must visit Finca Pizzeria and Kay’s while you are here!!

Great location, beautiful home

Sam was a nice guy. House was beautiful. Pool was great. My concern was around the cleanliness of the place. There was a lot of spider webs, stained sheets, and parts of the place that could have used a good scrubbing. It took away from the overall experience as cleanliness is a big deal for me.

The pictures do not do this view justice!! This home is amazing. 7 of us stayed here and every single person felt this house fell nothing short of amazing. Also huge thank you to Andrew for being so quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. There's no AC in this house but you will never get hot, the entire house is vented so it's cool throughout the day and at night you can hear the nature everywhere. Love the small town that it's in, really gives you that Costa Rican feel as opposed to staying in a resort. Would reccomend this place to anyone. Only down fall was how slow the wifi was. 7 twenty something year olds really rely on wifi. But other than that great house.

Luxurious escape in the mountains

We met up with Sam & Roxanne off the freeway and followed them to their luxurious getaway in the mountains in Atentas. They kindly showed us the ropes of where and what we needed to know for our short stay in the three bedroom dream house over looking the outstanding beauty of the valley below. The open plan kitchen is well equipped & easy to navigate with breakfast bar or dining area. There is a utility room. The design of the house was perfect with large windows and french doors to take in the blue skies and fascinating colours of nature. Outside there Is a charming dining area and BBQ unit. The reclining sunbeds were ideal for relaxing. The infinity pool was totally breathtaking the view captivating. There a separate roof terrace with table and chairs & canopy to enjoy the delights on view. The property is a 30 minute drive from San Jose airport so therefore Atentas is an ideal destination to start your holiday and unwind and enjoy. The local town is a a 5 minute drive down hill or a 30 minute walk. There are many interesting restaurants and places to visit.

Family Vacation

Our family vacation was in April 2017. While the forecast showed rain every day, we only had 1 day of thunderstorms.There were 5 adults in our family. If you want to immerse yourself in the Costa Rican Culture during the day and also relax in a beautiful home with a Mountainscape view this is the place for you. This home is peaceful and comfortable. The kitchen/living room area are large. 2 nice size bathrooms and supplied with plenty of soft towels. All of the beds were very comfortable along with the couch which we used as a bed. We had the doors open during the day but definitely needed to be closed at night due to all of the bugs. There is no air conditioning in this house, however the temps cool down at night and its comfortable if the ceiling fans are running. This house is about 1 1/2 hrs driving time from Jaco Beach - great place to take surfing lessons. Zoo Ave is about 30 min away. Zip Lining at Las Colinas is worth the 1 1/2 hr drive. Make a day of it and visit La Paz Falls and hike through the Rain Forest. La Fortuna is about 2 hrs away and is home to CR Dog Rescue which is where we volunteered for the day. If you eat in town you must try the Italian Restauraunt (look in the host book). The owner is from Itatly and the pizza is fabulous! We used our Phone as a GPS. It is a MUST! There are no addresses and many streets are not marked. We rented a car and bought car insurance. The drivers here are crazy! Read the Host's Guide Book. Amazing Beautiful

My husband and children stayed at the Luxury Castle for 4 days. The house is very spacious and comfortable. We had a wonderful time. The view from the house and pool is spectacular. Sam the owner is very helpful. Definitely recommend this house for vacation. Atenas is beautiful. We will definitely consider staying here again.
