I have stayed here many times over the years, totaling several months.
The staff are very nice and helpful, and the hotel is far enough off the main road to be quiet by Bangkok standards. The rooms are a good value for Bangkok.
The property could use modernizing, as everything looks like it was styled in 1990, and the rotted wooden deck around the bar should have been replaced years ago, but the hotel is clean enough.
Giving away a free joint with a purchased drink at the bar strikes me as a huge tactical error for an Ascott property, but the bar's usually empty anyway.
The only real negatives for me are the neighborhood, which is extremely seedy, especially at night, and some of the guests, who like to carry on in their rooms late at night with their doors propped open. I've no idea why so many parents traveling with their small children choose a hotel in a neighborhood full of bars, hookers, and pot shops, but that's another story. Different strokes, I guess.
