Beautiful home in the woods
My friends and I had a fantastic stay at this home. It has enough space for everyone to spread out. The balcony in the morning was perfect for coffee and the hot tub at night was very welcoming after our long hikes during the day. The property manager was responsive and helpful. This home is great for a group.

Loved our stay (!!) but house needs a bit of TLC
The location by the lovely Watauga Creek and waterfall which ran through a magical wooded setting was a highlight. Although there was a TV in every bedroom, we did not end up turning them on once. All 8 children loved scampering over the rocks in the creek, finding crayfish and sailing home made boats instead! The house, altho beginning to show its age, provided the perfect layout to fit our large family of 19 giving us each some private space. The guest house kitchen was a plus as the main house galley kitchen, although fully equipped, was tight for our large group. The basement kitchen included a helpful additional fridge and sink, but had no microwave or oven. We learned that July is a rainy month in Banner Elk and when we arrived , the outdoors cushions on the back porches were soaking wet and covered in mildew altho there was an outdoor storage bin where they could have been stored and kept dry. We couldn’t get the basement air units working even after following the instructions. This meant we couldn’t battle the noticeable humidity that made the entire area damp. We also found that there weren’t enough hooks or rods to hang jackets and towels, considering the hot tub and how many people the house could contain. The hot tub was fantastic after a day of adventuring and hiking and we also enjoyed s’mores round the fire pit altho we had to buy our own wood.

Family Vacation
It was a great experience. The property was beautiful and accommodated our family number of 16 well. Ages 70-2. Would highly recommend as a place to stay. Very clean and conveniently located to shops and attractions.

Family Gathering
This was the perfect place for our family gathering. We had 18 people and the home had plenty of space to spread out. We enjoyed hanging on the back deck listening to the river. The property was clean and provided plenty of space for parking. It was a wonderful, memorable weekend!

Great for large families
Had family all come in town together for our sons wedding on Grandfather Mt. and this was perfect house for all 18 of us to stay. Great space for everyone to be comfortable and well stocked with everything you’ll need. Beds were very comfortable too. The location is perfect, close to activities and restaurants. Used the hot tub and fire pit too! Was all absolutely perfect for our special gathering!! Definitely recommend staying here if looking for place for a large group.

Delightful Mountain stay
After several years of family vacations to the beach, our stay at The Glens was much cooler and more relaxing. Young and old enjoyed the hot tub. We gathered around the fire pit three nights. All the attractions we wanted were close by. The Watauga River at the back of the property is beautiful. We all want to come back again.

Beautiful property!
This place was absolutely perfect for our family reunion of 12 adults, 6 kids. The house itself could use a deep clean, but we basically only used the indoors for sleeping. We lived on the back porches, overlooking the river. The kids played outdoors the entire time. We cooked all our meals in the well stocked kitchen. Communication with the host was prompt and clear. We would love to come back many more times.

The best part about the property was the outdoor area, which was great to play for the little kids we had with us. The fire pit was really awesome as well. The biggest issue we had with the house is that we had our elderly parents and the dining room and kitchen or two steps above the main living room, and there was no handrail, so we constantly had to help them every time they needed to go from one place to another.

Worked great
We rented this house for a ski trip with 2 other families and it was perfect for our needs and wants. Each family was able to have their own area of the house while we were also able to enjoy each others company around the dining room table and outside on the deck and in the hot tub. The common spaces were not huge so might not be great if your looking for more open space but we really enjoyed it

Annual Family Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this unique house in a special place on earth. We got torrential rains, but hanging out in the many common rooms of the house was easy and fun. Could not have been easier to go deep in the woods for a hike or get to the grocery store.

Yearly Mountain get together
The 23 of us ranging in age from 81 to 1 had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed the property. A foosball, ping pong, or pool table would be a great addition to the game room.

Great family vacation
The location of this house is great. The house is nice and co host is amazing! I don’t know who cleans the house but I found it to be very dirty. We had to clean the house when we got there because it was filthy. I would stay here again but the co host definitely needs to get someone else to clean the property for visitors.

What a blast!
We loved the location & the beautiful yard with a pond. We played yard games & took hikes down to the creek which wasn’t that far. Make sure to pack good shoes. Plenty of accommodations with many attractions close by. Only caveat was the jacuzzi was a bit dirty after a few days…we couldn’t find the chemicals to treat it. The host was supposed to come by. All & all a great place to stay!

Family Mountain Retreat
The property was just the right size and right location for our family retreat. The fire pit, outdoor seating, access to the creek, hot tub, space for everyone, and location to all planned experiences are just a few of the positives with the property during our visit. Having the guest house worked well to space everyone out. The full kitchen was a convenience for nights we cooked. All family members enjoyed their stay and look forward to another return trip.
