Beautiful property, great for families
We stayed as a family of four with two young children at the end of summer. The property is beautiful and the water very shallow quite a ways out so it was perfect for our 1.5 and 2.5 year olds. They had a blast playing in the water, riding around in the kayak and playing with some beach toys provided. The cottage got both very hot and cold while we were there with the fluctuating temps that week. The fans in every room work wonders and there is heating if needed. Adequate and comfortable linens provided. Some toiletries if needed. Really nice to have a washer and dryer on site if you need to wash and dry towels or clothing you brought up. All the comforts of home including a dishwasher, coffee machine etc. TVs also in every room which was convenient. As others have mentioned, it seemed as though there were not a lot of mosquitoes but the ones that got us were the itchiest we have ever experienced. Property was secluded / private enough though you could see some neighbouring cottages/guests a ways away. Hosts were prompt with responses to any correspondence. I think the biggest take away was that we had a very comfortable stay as a family of four with small children.

peaceful cottage experience.
To any one looking for a peaceful cottage experience as we were, Loon Lodge on Golden Lake is ideal. There was a cool ambiance of a log cabin with all the modern amenities one could possibly need. The beach is sandy, the water crystal clear. We would definitely return and recommend it to friends. The fire pit seemed a little dangerous. It is so large one must step into the pit to add wood to fire. Although the water was reportedly safe to drink the smell was so off putting we strongly recommended quest bring drinking water.

Peaceful, relaxing and enchanting.
We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was well equipped and the beach front was perfect. We went kayaking and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets each night. We loved watching all the water fowl and got some amazing photos of them. Our stay was perfect. I'd go back. Loved it there.

A great week at Golden Lake
We had a very enjoyable week at Loon Lodge. The property is ideally situated on a nice sandy beach with beautiful sunsets. The cottage is well equipped and nicely set back from the water. Lots of kayaking, cycling, and hiking nearby. I highly recommend this cottage.

Legendary Golden Lake
We had a lovely last week of summer. Playing in the water, having bonfires on the beach and chilling in the cottage. Loon lodge was a spectacular place to spend our last days of summer!

The Lake is great for kayaking. There is a nice sandy beach and the water remains shallow for a long distance out. The property is located about one mile down a narrow unpaved road so be careful in a low clearance car.

Beachside Gem
This completely refurbished and tastefully-appointed home has retained all of the charm of its origins on Golden Lake. The two-bedroom main cottage and four-bed bunkie made it possible for our families to gather around the large dining table for family meals with a spectacular view and the sound of waves lapping the shoreline. The outdoor touches were also complete, with deck and lounge chairs, a wide deck for outdoor dining, and watercraft for paddling. This cottage covers it all with many added touches such as water games, sand toys, noodles, games and puzzles. It is obvious that this home is beloved by its personable hosts, and we felt lucky to share in the magic of Loon Lodge. (Yep…we saw the loons each day!)

Relaxing Private Getaway
Cottage is equipped with everything you need for cottage fun - including beach toys for kids. Beautiful sandy beach kid friendly. Cottage was clean and comfortable. Only thing we would have liked was a TV in the bunkie :-) absolutely lovely property. The loons indeed visited every day.

Great Private Cottage

Beautiful and tranquil
Beautiful property that is well maintained. The hosts are super responsive to all inquiries and a local property manager ensured that the place was up to standards. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals and the barbecue is really nice. There is a nice deck to sit on and enjoy the nature. Loons visited almost every day. We chose to wear water shoes as there are a few fresh water mussels in the water but there are not many so you could avoid them. The water is shallow with a really nice sandy bottom. There are ceiling fans throughout the cottage and they do a good job at circulating the air (although it wasn't super hot while we were there). The only con is that the second bedroom is small - we just left our suitcases in the master bedroom. We can't wait to return!! Thanks so much!

A peaceful getaway
The cottage on Golden Lake was exactly as advertised, attractive, very comfortable, bright inside with a well equipped kitchen, overall just great. We enjoyed the sandy beach, the tandem kayak and a couple of campfires.

Beautiful property
Beautiful lakefront property, fully stocked kitchen. My partner and I spent a week in September and had a wonderful time. Ten minutes away from a grocery store, 20 minutes from a golf course. Would definitely return!

Great Holidays
I rented the Loon Lodge for myself and three daughters between the ages of 16 and 20. The process was effortless and all response to questions was fast and excellent. The property was clean and well-supplied. I regularly rent cottages and this one is at the top of my list.

Beautiful property, long walkout waterfront, great fishing, amazingly equipped kitchen. Can't say enough about the owners, friendly and answered promptly. The living space was bigger and better than the pictures showed. Will definitely be rebooking!

A lovely space
We had a lovely week here. The cottage was well supplied with everything we could possibly need. It was very clean and was exactly as described. The lake was lovely, warm and shallow quite a ways out. Great for kids. We had a loon family visiting every day and not too many motor boats so quite quiet.

Great location, great property. Easy check-in and owner/renter was always available.
Everything you need in the kitchen (there is even a slow cooker). Ample towels and linens etc. Great location and the cottage has fantastic views of the lake. Would rent again in a heartbeat.

Amazing place for families
We had a wonderful time at Loon Lodge last week. The water was shallow in the bay (adult waist deep even 20 m away from shore). The sandy beach was a hit with all the kids. I would recommend water shoes for little ones as there are some sharp mussels at the bottom of the lake. We rented a SUP at Barry's Bay outfitters, and along with the kayak provided, the kids were entertained for hours while adults enjoyed the serenity of cottage living. (Be sure to bring lifejackets for the kids) The house was well stocked with everything we needed from kitchen tools to cleaning supplies. There was a Keurig & brew coffee machine. We had good cell reception (Rogers LTE). The owner's parents were helpful and kind. Everything about this cottage was great for our family. We are looking into booking for next summer already! Loon Lodge is the perfect family vacation destination
We rented the cottage and bunkie so we would have space for our family of 6 which included 2 adults, 2 adult children and elderly grandparents. Loon Lodge was perfect in every way. The buildings and property are beautiful. The living space is modern and clean. The lake is clean and the beach is shallow and sandy. The generous deck provided lots of shade and outdoor space for the grandparents who have mobility issues. The loon family greeted us every morning and evening in front of the lodge, which is very appropriately named!! We loved kayaking and really appreciated the use of the boats. Hardly any mosquitoes which is unheard of in cottage country this summer. Would highly recommend and hope we will return to this beautiful summer haven.
