1. Rude agent managing the property
A cleaning fee was included with our booking (totally fine), but the agent managing the property on behalf of the owners sent us a series of very rude messages after we left because there were a few dishes in the sink and we didn’t make the beds.
No prior instructions were ever provided to us saying we had to do the dishes.
The agent is a disaster of a person and totally unprofessional. Fire her immediately.
2. 100s of spiders everywhere in the house
On arrival, there were spiders in the top corners of every ceiling, under each bed, in every wardrobe, behind bed side drawers, behind beds.
Killed about 40 of them, using a half can of bug spray. Very exhausting after traveling so far with our two babies.
Had to move beds away from the walls to spray spiders behind the beds, get on the floor to spray under the beds and kill spiders there, etc.
Then had to sweep/collect dead spiders from all over the house.
3. Very dusty floors
On arrival, my wife had to sweep the floors due to a pile up of dust/dead bugs/insects everywhere.
4. No WIFI or clothes dryer, but listed as a luxury house
5. No heating/air conditioning in bedrooms
Description of the house when we booked it:
“The property is heated/cooled with reverse cycle air-conditioning.”
There’s an old radiator heater in the hallway and one air-conditioning unit in the lounge room/kitchen area.
6. No cribs provided despite requesting them a month in advance
We were international guests with twin babies.
Got an email a day before arrival (from the agent) saying the house isn’t advertised as having cribs. She didn’t offer any solution.
Emailed the agent. No reply after hours.
Called. She eventually agreed to arrange cribs from her cleaner’s personal home. She wasn’t initially trying to get that done for me though. Her tone was essentially one of, “Well, the house doesn’t have any” and then basically silence.
I appreciate that she reached out to her cleaner to get cribs, but they weren’t clean and had a sour, musty odor.
Not what guests should be experiencing when renting a “luxury” home at a high price.
I feel bad leaving a non 5 star review, but it was a horrible experience for us.
I would recommend that the owners find a new agent to manage their lovely home, rather than the unorganized (not arranging cribs despite a month's notice), unprofessional (rude messages after we left) agent currently taking care of it.
