We stayed in apartment- and ate at pub in Portinscale only a 15 minute walk into Keswick lovely walk. Apartment clean , everything you need . The building is Victorian, plenty of room in apartment set in lovely grounds. It is dated, and the hall entrance could do with repainting and new carpets to make it more inviting for guests. "A lovely 3 night stay on Bassenthwaite Lake. Lodge was well appointed and as described in the listing. Location is remote but only 10min drive to Keswick and exactly what we wanted. Recommend The Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite for dinner and even managed a quick paddle board on (thankfully not in) an empty Lake, which was bliss. Will definitely consider staying here again."

"Vicky greeted us on arrival & it was nice to know she was nearby to help with any queries or issues. (There weren’t any.) The apartment was warm & cosy with all we needed for our long weekend. The hot tub was a special treat after a long, chilly walk. Thank you, Vicky."

"We had a great stay using this as our base to explore part of the Lake District, easy access to lakes and many fells in one direction and to vast beaches a short drive away in the other direction. Loved the jacuzzi bath to relax in after a long day walking. We found the stairs to be steeper than we are acustomed to and also smaller treads, but a good hand rail for support when going to bed with tired legs. "The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed. A minor niggle, but it was a bit cluttered with cushions and throws in the sitting room - the throws just slid off the leather sofas and the cushions were too big and too many, so were surplus to requirements. The location suited us very well, with a host of lovely walks and places to visit nearby. We had a wonderful break and can recommend!"

"Cosy, well equipped cottage with a lovely view. Our elderly parents loved that they didn't have to go anywhere to enjoy the beach and they could get out for easy walks. With amenities just a few minutes drive away and local to wildlife viewing options this worked well for us. None of us were keen to leave."

"We were looking for a quiet and relaxing couple of days and the Shepherds hut gave us just that. It was small and very cozy. It was warm on arrival which was very welcoming. If i were to give some feedback i would say that a couple of side lamps would be helpful. Overall an excellent stay."
