My wife and I spent 5 peaceful days at the house on Sapelo Island. Our daily walks along Nanny Goat Beach on the Atlantic side of the island --a 5-minute drive from the house--were wonderful, with few people and miles and miles of sand, seabirds, shells, and dunes. Mr. Chris and Mrs. Barbara provide us with excellent Southern-cooked fare brought to the house during our stay. Mr. Chris took us around the Island on the first day explaining a bit about the Island’s history and the Geechee community of Hog Hammock which the house borders. From our second day on we used the Suburban provided with house to get around the Island, including to the beach.
The owner, Tod, made ferry arrangements for us and met us at the ferry departing for Sapelo to insure that all went smoothly. The house was very comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. There is good wifi internet access at the house, but mobile signal access is limited to certain areas of the island and generally not at the house.
For people seeking beauty, quiet, a wonderful beach, and like to be well fed, we unreservedly recommend this property and a stay on the Island. We hope to spend more time here in the future. It is not, however, a place to go for nightlife, crowds, and tourist concessions.
