This is a complicated review because there were some good things about the stay and some bad things. It is clearly a work in progress and will probably be nice when done, so I will start with the good:
A good location near uptown Butte and reasonably priced. The inside of the house was nicely remodeled and very clean. It really is a neat old house. The host responded promptly and helped change our dates when we had a conflict pop up. However, he did fail to disclose some things in a timely manner, as discussed below.
The bad:
The description was not entirely accurate. It listed two queen beds, one double bed, two twin beds and a futon. There were only two true beds in the house. A double bed downstairs and a queen bed upstairs. There was a futon in one of the downstairs bedrooms, with no real bed. Upstairs was a queen bed only, with no futon as listed. The other downstairs bedroom did have a double bed and a twin hide-a-bed. We had 5 in our group and the house was pretty full. Also, there were not nearly enough plates, utensils, etc. for 8 people. There was barely enough for the 5 of us. Not a major issue for us, but would not be enough for a bigger party.
The ugly:
When I reserved the house (granted 4 months in advance), Wifi was included and there was a nice backyard with a spot to pull a car in and unpack. When we got there, it had changed and neither of these things were available. There was no wifi, which was not a huge deal for us, but still a change we didn't know about. A bigger issue was the side/back yard was completely torn apart and un-useable and inaccessible. We did not know this until the day before our stay when we got the code to the door and it was too late to change. This also created a hazard because the front door key didn't work. You had to walk around to the back door to unlock the house. This took you through the construction zone where a large chunk of the walkway was missing. You had to step over a section of the broken walkway with about a 3-foot drop.
All in all, the place worked for us as we were just happy to be spending some time in Montana and are very low maintenance. I do feel there were things that should have been disclosed prior to our stay and a more accurate description of the property, but we made it work.
