Sweet spot

Great stay at this bright, airy, cozy cottage. We enjoyed coffee and happy hour on the deck overlooking the river and boats each day. Hated to leave!

Overall this is an expected older condition cape home rental in ok cape condition. Description a bit deceiving as it abutts a boat yard with 24/7 blaring safety lights and noisy when operating. One car parking was on a 30degree slope and very difficult Most deceiving was the

Chatham's Oyster River Stay

The location is lovely, however, I would recommend the owners perhaps put in some type of steps that lead down to the house and provide lighting along the way since the dirt path is uneven and when wet can be slippery and messy. There were coverings on the couches since they are white and had many stains on them. Otherwise the house is comfortable and sitting outside loverlooking the water and boats is very pretty and relaxing. It is also convenient to get into the center of Chatham which is very nice.

So much worse that I could have ever imagined a rental could be

The condition of this property is disgusting AND this is obviously known by the owners from many prior reviews - they clearly don't care. The town needs to get out & reinspect immediately. I have emailed them letting them know this property is not suitable to rent. The surfaces in the kitchen and bathrooms seemed clean. Everything else was filthy - and I mean grungy, slimy, coated with dirt filthy. I didn't even want to walk on the floors without shoes. The sofa & chair in living room were covered with stains, pet hair, and had dirt under the cushions. The sofa had a hole in it. To cover this up- they threw some type of blanket on top of each, not a slip cover... a blanket. Absolutely disgusting...The carpet in the bedrooms was filthy. The screens had holes in them. The portable a/c immediately smelled like mold when I turned it on. After several days of sinus & throat discomfort I finally figured out that the a/c was the culprit. I pulled out the filter and, in addition, to being covered in dust it had small black dots all over it that were definitely mold spores. By the end of the trip the entire house just felt "so gross" that I didn't feel clean even after a shower. The narrow, short deck that has two chairs with cushions Old tables & wooden chairs that were both broken & splintered. Not to mention that when the crank out windows are open there is "no room" to sit on the deck Grill is covered with filth and rust inside.The unpaved path had non-working solar lights..

Sad but true

Listing is not representative of the condition of the home at all…grille is damaged inside, furniture is completely worn and is about 7 shades from the white they show, handle on upstairs shower comes completely off, ceiling in kitchen has water/leak damage, furniture is reconfigured and day bed was stuck under the stairs, walkway to the home is a washed out dirt path, inaccessible to elderly or anyone disabled, bedroom window crank is broken, awful fecal odor in first floor bathroom and poor ventilation in entire home makes our experience sadly not good. It was really disappointing since clearly as the listing shows it was once a beautiful place and with a great location. I hope the owner or manager gives this place some serious TLC to bring it back to what it once was, poor home has had some serious wear and tear…

What an amazing stay!

Loved the stay so much we are considering booking again next year! The view was the best part by far! The only issue we had was the unstable outdoor shower other than that we had a great time!

Great Spot!

It’s hard to find a place that a 16 year old boy, 13 year old girl and 7 year old boy ALL enjoy but this did it! The space is clean (except the couches could use being replaced) and the location is awesome. Kitchen is well equipped. There’s a grill on the deck too. Aside from the couches it’s really hard to think of something to complain about. The local support team was SUPER responsive! My son forgot his wallet when we checked out and they sent someone over to get it and then drove to meet us to give it back. Definitely went above and beyond there!

Christmas family gathering

The best part about this property is the Oyster River view and open floorplan on the main level. Sadly, we were disappointed with communication with Vacasa. We had an issue accessing the keypad. We were told to use the lock box instead. When asked, why the keypad didn’t work response was “you don’t really want to spend your time trying to figure that out with me. Just enjoy your getaway” Further, we were dismayed at the poorly lit and dangerous entry to get down to the property. To make matters worse the stench from the decaying shellfish attached to boat dock right outside the front door was overpowering. Despite having unseasonably warm weather, we could not open a window. Once inside, we had to clean the table surfaces and pick up the dirty rugs in the bathrooms. As well, the furnishings were worn and stained. A cream colored blanket was thrown over the furniture to cover the thread bear cushions. The chair cushions were stained and should’ve been replaced long ago. The pictures showed a table with seating for six. We were hosting our family Christmas dinner here and there were chairs for five. We had to bring a chair from outside. Additionally, there was not flatware service for six. I had to purchase plasticware up the street. oven did not work/had an error message. Vacasa put us on long hold, disconnected; no call back. Bedrooms spacious, showed stained carpeting and pillows should be replaced immediately. It’s quite unfortunate since this home has great potential.

Great Chatham Experience

Great house within close distance to local shops and eateries. We enjoyed it! We only stayed for a weekend, but we enjoyed the views and quiet.

Location was great but the house was less than desirable.

The location was great, but the house was less than desirable. There were constant bugs in the house and a musty odor. The furniture was old and extremely uncomfortable: the couch, dining room chairs, and beds made it extremely difficult to have a good night's sleep. There were stains on the carpets, bedroom comforters, sofa & ottoman. The Kitchen was old and dirty, and the walls were dirty.

Cute getaway place in serene location

Quiet and beautiful spot on Oyster River. Open first floor plan allows for sunlight and breeze. Great wraparound porch / deck. 5 minute drive to Hardings Beach. 10 minute drive to Downtown Chatham. What you see in the pictures is what you get. Some minor housekeeping items for management: 1. there is a private outdoor shower but it wasn't connect to water supply. 2. the shower handles in both indoor bathrooms were tricky and it took some time to figure out how to get the right temperature.

Unfit for human habitation

Reserved a 2-1/2 week stay. Left after one disgusting night. The furniture is filthy. The rugs are (assuming pet) stained. The house has the aroma of a kennel. The river view is nice.

Great place for a short getaway by the water. Amazing views!

Property is definitely "cottagie". It is no frills but clean and there is ample space for 6 (we were only 2). We could not figure out how to control the heat (it was early spring). The master bed is a full - could use at least a queen. Bedding is not great and pillows were terrible (bring your own). Shower adjustment is quirky. Overall, we would stay again - the view is great, the area is very peaceful and lends itself well for long walks to the harbor or beach
