Wasn’t expecting a 5 star experience in this Northwoods cabin, but we almost walked out and cut our losses. Pictures of listing were much nicer than the actual rental. It’s like someone started to fix up the property 15 years ago, closed it up, then rented it out. Dirt and dust everywhere. This place had spongy plywood floors painted brown. There were some sort of insect pods or nests all over exterior, and between screens and glass of door. Multiple spiders and ants inside. Smelled musty. Sheets were old, pilled and maybe hadn’t been washed, stains. Slept between our own blankets to avoid touching sheets. Glad we brought our own pillows. Got cold at night, heater was advertised, NO HEAT; big old heater unit just sitting there, was not hooked up to gas line laying behind unit, and gas inlet pipe taped with masking tape. Even if it was booked up there was no vent to outside. Provided towels were old and stained. A couple were such an old pattern I’d bet they’re from the 80’s. Doors had no window coverings, even though one looked strait into bed area and the other into the bathroom. The rest of the window coverings were temporary paper stick up shades that had been tacked in place. Seating in dining area was ripped and scratched. Toilet had a wood seat; breeding ground for germs. Glad I brought cleaning wipes along. Speaking of cleaning products: the dirty broom and dust pan in the bathroom next to the plunger certainly weren’t going to get anything clean. If there were a place to post photos, I’ve got plenty. These owners either have no clue what their property manager is doing, have no idea what they’re doing, or just don’t care. Either way, they’re missing out on future renters unless it’s fixed and cleaned.
