My family and I stayed 4 nights at the cabin. We chose the cabin due to its unique look and feel and wanting to disconnect a bit. We found the place charming; with lots of space to roam. If I were to stay again or advise others here are the things I would let them know the following.
1. It’s rural so be prepared for WIFI services to not be existent. We only found this to be a problem with a toddler who needs white noise to fall asleep so we rigged by keeping a cell phone close to the internet set to his whit empire and Bluetoothed to a speaker that we hung by the “nook” style bed area.
2. The kids (2) 18yr old 11, & 3 plus us had fun playing hide and seek in all the areas however some outdoor amenities would be nice. Basketball hoop, cornhole
Boards that weren’t dry rot etc.
3. For the internal amenities we found the place to not be a typical vrbo home in which upkeep was a concern. The stairs need repair as they are split and broken down the middle with screws put in as a placeholder to hold them together. The main bedroom toilet bulb was squealing a high pitched noise upon arrival and we had to tap is several times daily, the hot water runs out fairly quickly, and in order to follow the check out rules we had to improvise. There were no dish washer tabs and it seems like this space may be a persons home but the idea came to “make extra cash” while out of town or state so real safeguards in that manner in taking into consideration what others would need 4. Communication and update if Info for issues: we found the book helpful in check out process however when we contacted the person named in the book as our go to we got w call back letting us know she was only the cleaning person but hadn’t done the cleaning in over 3 years. that she has asked to removed and feels bad people keep contesting her. We were able to reach the caretaker about the stairs & toilet and was told a handy man would come out however no one did. The expectation is to leave the place in clean orderly fashion however we didn’t find the cleanliness to be that; dust and dirt on the floors were the biggest thing we noticed. Felt like we were walking on sand but we swept up the floor to keep from having our feet feel so gritty. Also fans & switches didn’t work or kept shorting out in the main bedroom and bathroom. The light over the vanity shuts off on its own
Above all it was a place to sleep, kids found it unique & interesting. Very quite neighborhood & 30min to anything
