We loved this place and Patti and Susan were incredible. Perfect distance to the beach and lots of good beach equipment (chairs, toys, beach cart, etc.). I would recommend bringing a good beach umbrella (shibumi or likewise). Kitchen was very well equipped and we didn’t “need” anything when preparing meals. Lots of wonderful board games (apples to apples, monopoly, beat the parents) and great DVD selection. Also a number of wonderful books to select from to read on the beach. We stayed for a month and enjoyed riding bikes on the uncrowded streets, service at the only church on Sundays, ice cream from Scoopasaurus, and Fryes Thursday-Sunday. The beach was perfect, uncrowded and it was nice to occasionally make our way down to Melrose Beach club for which Patti has a membership. Only real advice to pass along is choose your transportation over wisely. We had a wonderful group take us over, but we were delivered at Freeport Marina by Old Daufuskie Crab Company. Unfortunately (no fault of Patti or Susan), they can only pull up so close to help load/unload for ground transportation. Because we stayed for so long, we had a lot of groceries and it was quite the effort in the summer heat to haul all of our luggage and groceries up from the dock to Susan’s trailer. Susan was such a big help both ways, but especially on the return to get us as close as possible. In short, look for a group that can take you to the public dock as Susan can get very close to help haul your luggage.
