I am happy to see that the description of this rental has been updated to note that there may be campers on the property. We had no idea this would be a possibility and would not have rented had we known. I felt the description of the property did not represent this and we were very disappointed to find no less than 5 campers on the property at the sound access. When I notified the owner we were leaving a night early and were disappointed to find campers on the property the response I got was "It's Labor Day weekend, usually no one is there". I was expecting to have at least semi private access, but this was not the case. Also, we have never stayed in a VRBO that did not have a list of emergency numbers available. The only check in info we got was the code for the key box and a message saying the owner would be available by text. When we arrived and turned on the lamps (there are no overhead lights) we started smelling a burning smell. Turns out there was a hat that was inside one of the floor lamps. Luckily we figured that out pretty quickly, it could have easily turned into a fire. It was then that I realized we had no one immediately available if there were an emergency. We have used VRBO for more than a decade and have never stayed at a property that did not have a binder available upon check in with emergency numbers, instructions and good to know info for the rental. It is very quiet and a beautiful property (location), but not private. Come prepared with what you need as the nearest grocery store is at least 20-30 minutes away. There are dollar stores about 10 min away for essentials. Sparse towels provided were bleached and mismatched. This property is in a very desolate area. If you're looking for that - great. If you're looking to be near Beaufort, you may be disappointed that it is a minimum 20-30 minute drive. The house attached is also a rental (we were unaware of that as well)...so be prepared to have fishermen coming in at late hours. Overall we were very disappointed and would not stay again. I rarely leave negative reviews, but felt it was necessary in this case to avoid others having a negative experience.
