Great condo with a rough start
The property was very nice. We enjoyed our stay after we got our parking pass and beach/pool code. We prepaid as directed in order to have the parking and pool codes since we knew we might be running late and the office closed at 4 on Sunday. I texted to be sure it would be available to us and received a message that no, it wouldn’t be, but we that was great because we could pick it up tomorrow. I then called the condos and was told, of course it would be available to us. There was even a sign on the door that it should be in our condo. It was not. My advice would be to get there before the office closes even though you can’t check in until 4pm or you could lose a whole afternoon of enjoying the whole reason you come to the beach-the ocean!

End of Year Trip
This was our first trip to the gulf at the end of the year and it was great. The pool was heated and the hot tub was nice and hot. The condo was comfy and had everything we needed to cook meals.

Hidden Fees
We were not advised of the additional cost for wristbands and parking until a week if that till our vacation was to start.Which I feel was ridiculous. Also, it appeared that there were chairs and umbrellas available with the condo, but we were not given that perk, as we have in every other condo we have stayed in over the last 3-4 years. The fee for the chairs and umbrellas were like $80.00 a day which would of cost us $240.00 additional and the fact that you can’t use your own umbrellas is insane.

Have stayed at Sterling Sands in Destin, FL many times before, but not this particular unit. Very nice - no complaints. Realjoy was very attentive to any questions we had.

When we arrive there, we met the lady at the desk. She was not very kind at all, very dismissive of us. When we got up to the condo, there was a dirty bar of soap in the bathroom toward the front. The shower was not even strong enough to get the soap out of our hair. Also, the back of the doors in that bathroom needs painted badly. Drywall, coming apart around the washer and dryer. Washer is rusted out. Would not let us take our sandwiches and snacks to the pool so we did not sit there. We felt the place was very depressing

The property was perfect for our family!
The location was perfect and we loved the beach access and pool area. Loved that the pool area was heated as it was a bit chilly when we were there. It was clean and had TONS of kitchen supplies which I loved as someone who cooks! Also we loved having 2 chairs on the beach already included in our stay! The only thing I could probably is say is that the tv in the main room was going out. So the screen was very blue. We did report it and they sent someone right away but unfortunately couldn’t be replaced immediately. Due to our stay being early in the season the year chair fee had not been taken care of yet and we had to wait a day. They were quick to fix it though! Overall it was a great stay!!

Everything is not what it seem
The property is older and while they are currently renovating, the unit is overpriced for the condition and season. I was charged $10 per person for wristbands for areas of the property that we couldn't access. The gym and pool was closed. There was no security or beach service so I'm not sure was the exact fee was for.

Everything was great. From booking to checkout there were zero issues. The property was fantastic and I would recommend Sterling Sands to anyone that is looking for a good time and a hassle free vacation.

Not for me
The property security are all really rude our kids couldn’t even play with a small ball at the pool area but then at night teenagers would be jumping over the fence when the pool was closed. We were also given 1 roll of paper towels and two things of toilet paper when we went to the front desk to get more they wouldn’t until we contacted who we booked through I tried calling and no one ever answered so we bought our own. Our AC also went out twice while we were there. So after paying over 3,000 dollars I won’t be staying there again.

Roaches!
We have been staying in this area since 1987 and this is our first bad review. Our unit had roaches! I can't imagine anything worse than this. Real Joy was responsive and sent someone to spray. This helped but we started seeing roaches again toward the end of our trip. Upon leaving, we were extremely worried about packing and unpacking and very fearful they would travel home with us. It took us hours to unpack as we had to shake everything out while outside before bringing anything in to our home. Overall, it was very sad to see that Sterling Sands is not as clean as it used to be. We noticed a dirty napkin by the hose on the beach walk on our first day. It was still there on our last day. This tells you a lot. For the first time ever, I cannot recommend Sterling Sands. Also, I thought I was booking on VRBO and was very surprised to receive an email that we had booked through Real Joy. This should have been very clear from the beginning and was not. Real Joy's cancellation policy is different than VRBO so beware of this.
