"The motel is located next to the state highway, convenient to access, to 15 minutes from the Waitomo caves. The host, Margeret is very friendly and helpful. She provided milk when we checked-in, and also offered to dry our wet cloth that we got from the previous activity. Although the facility is not the newest but it's very clean and convenient. I am happy that we stayed there for the night."

Friendly staff and easy check in... Nice on-site restaurant... It is directly off the highway, so it's a bit noisy, but not terrible, just cars whooshing by frequently... "

"Nice clean and tidy self-contained unit. Pleased with accommodation. Pity it was hard to find where to check in. Good signage would solve this. Planting some low maintenance native plants (pongas and using limeston rock features) near the front without costing a fortune would be a lovely addition to the name. Would stay again."

"The room was clean and service was friendly. However thebloxation is next to a busy highway and you could hear and feel the vibrations of the heavy trucks all night long, making it hard to sleep. Also, the electrical outlets were all by the entrance to the room, with the bed being on the opposite end and was not able to keep my phone charged near me during the night."

"Beautiful location, grounds and cabin. So close to glow worm caves and have their own little glow worm grotto on the property. Only a 60 second walk from the cabins. Also close to a waterfall and black sand beach. Angus was such a gracious host who made sure we had everything we needed including toast jams and coffee. "We had a great stay at Awakino and the location was unbeatable. We had functions to attend in Mokau which was really ply only a few minutes away. We also traveled to Waikawau and it made it so easy to get to. I would recommend this premises for anyone. The owner was very accessible and very friendly even leaving some homemade biscuits and farm fresh eggs for us. It was an older style house and had everything we needed. "We stayed for 1 night. The accommodation has everything you need. It was quirky and fun. All rooms very clean and comfortable. Our child loved the bunk bed room. We were very happy to have the milk and bread etc. The night sky was amazing to see from here. Would thoroughly recommend!"
