The place was good with basic furnishings. Scandi means Ikea. Internet worked well. It was well located in the centre of Linlithgow which is close to Edinburgh and a lovely town. Lovely views of the loch and quiet.
We received a couple of detailed, lovely and welcoming automated messages upon booking asking for our arrival and departure times to help with flexible check in or out. We were then very disappointed with the lack of hospitality from the host when we asked about flexible check out and we were met with complete inflexibility - they wouldn’t even consider it. Given our flight out was quite late, this would have had a huge impact and was part of the reason we chose this listing.
Communication was quite difficult. We couldn’t find the key to enter the building, and after telling the host multiple times that the key safe was empty they kept sending photos of the key safe and how it looked like, and sending us the code again. It took a while for them to understand that there was actually no key in there and therefore took a while to solve for.
Generally, we received very timely but blunt and unwelcoming replies to some simple questions and requests we had. Con’s: bed is queen, not king as stated in listing, only had 2 rolls of TP for an entire week, there were no tea towels, bread knife or food processor in the kitchen, and the shower had no water pressure and had a noisy small heater. We prefer to have hosts who make our stay easier. Don’t recommend.
