The house itself is beautiful and in a great location. However, the property is not adequately kept.
The house has plenty of ceiling fans, but as the day progresses, the house gets uncomfortably warm, and not all the windows have screens to allow for air flow without bugs coming in - especially the laundry area. I assume this is why there are so many bugs upon arrival. There are also large ants in the kitchen sink and refrigerator. A single cup was left unwashed from the night prior in the sink and the next morning, there were over a dozen large black ants swarming the cup. The large master bedroom upstairs had crayon on the wall, a taped off, unusable sink, and a note about the toilet pressure/flushing issues. The main level master bedding had sticky spots of what looked like jelly and the living room corner couch was covered with white pet hair. Outside, the stream wasn’t flowing so my crew filled it with water to help out the Koi at the bottom, and the hot tub had a thick layer of dirt on the bottom to clean.
Lastly, the house is scarcely stocked for higher than expected dismissal requests. Our party of 9 and week long stay required frequent bath, wash cloth, and kitchen towel laundry. There are limited quantities of each. You are provided 1 trash bag and 3 laundry pods with the expectation to begin loads of laundry and drive the trash bins to the dump in Newland (15 minutes away) before departure. This is a challenge for longer stays and no truck.
As stated, the house is aesthetically beautiful. It’s also tastefully decorated, easily accessible and roomy. However, there are notable and obvious issues with the property with cleanliness and insects - as also commented on the property guest log book. If you are willing to take the initial time to clean (sweep/ vacuum), purchase a few additional small room fans, and wash (like the bedding with jelly), before your vacation starts (like we did), then it will make your time much more tolerable and enjoyable.
