We loved Prairie Beach Home. It was the perfect setting for our getaway. We visit the redwood country nearly every year and I've viewed the Prairie Beach Home on the website for several years, but until this year it didn't work out for us to stay at this property. First off, the rental amount is a true bargain for this property. The home is super well appointed with every need addressed and the decor is very nice, not fussy, but very comfortable and suits the setting perfectly. The beds are comfortable and we had a fire in the wood stove every evening which kept the rooms warm and cozy. We like to sleep in a cool room, so the fact the warmth from the fire doesn't travel well to the bedroom actually worked in our favor. The water pressure isn't super strong, but that presented no problem for us and we were delighted that the water was tasty right from the tap! The view out to the ocean is lovely and so bucolic with the cows in the pastures. We were visited by a sweet doe one morning and enjoyed hearing the frogs at night.
Orick itself is not much to write home about, well past it's heyday, but quiet and that brings its own charm. We loved how the elk herd makes itself at home wherever it pleases sometimes even stopping traffic on Hwy 101, by lingering right on the road. All of our favorite hiking spots are nearby and we even discovered a few new adventures to be had up Bald Hills Road. We beach combed on Agate Beach and enjoyed meals out in Trinidad. Great stay, we'll be back!
