Not informed of drawdown
Before booking this property, we asked if we’d be able use a boat ramp and to keep our boat in the boathouse for the length of the stay as this was our goal for a four day rental on a lake! Once these things were confirmed, we paid. The owner neglected to tell us until two days before arrival that there was a 5 foot planned drawdown. We could not get a refund and cancel the trip- which is what we would have done had we been given the opportunity. To get in and out of the boat required walking in sink mud up to our knees. The owner offered a partial refund that was NEVER given. For two weeks, we tried texting, emailing, and VRBO called multiple times. There has been no response.
Other than the water level being five feet lower, the property was exactly what we were looking for! The fish cleaning area was great. We loved the sunroom with the windows providing great views. The game room was well appointed. Kids caught fish and frogs. Firewood being provided for the fire pit was a plus since most rentals don’t provide that.
We made the best of an inaccurate description and bad situation and still had a good time.
