This quaint, funky cottage was just the right size, price and location for our weekend getaway.
We loved how it was tucked away from the hustle of town and the highway. Close enough to hear the ocean, and enjoy a hike across the dunes to the beach just out the back door.
We appreciated that the house was dog friendly. It was a nice touch that there were dog bowls ready in the kitchen, because we forgot ours!
It was also a nice touch that the fireplace was going when we arrived. It added to the cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, it is not very efficient at heating the house. It was set to 75 for hours and the thermostat read 53 before we went to bed. After leaving the heater on for over 24 hours, the house warmed up to about 65. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal if it were just me and my husband, we had extra blankets. But, we had our little baby with us so we had to really bundle her up and put her next to the fireplace to sleep.
The decor of the place is funky, beachy and welcoming. This mostly makes up for some of the rough and old finishes in the house. The bed and shower are old and very small, which was a challenge for my tall husband. But the bed was comfortable enough for us to sleep well.
Lastly, I'll comment on the cleanliness of the house. Overall it seemed pretty clean when we came in. However, because of covid I brought my own disinfecting wipes to wipe the high touch surfaces, just in case, and I found the light switches by the front door had grime on them like they were never cleaned. There is also mildew on the caulking in the shower...
All things considered, it was well worth the the reasonable price, and I would go back.
