I could not have asked for a more perfect property for my first time in Fort Worth. Stan, Michael, and Okie were the most gracious and generous hosts and their attention to seemingly small details was impeccable. All the while I enjoy the Zoo, great food, the Stockyards, and the conference I was in attendance of, along with my compadres.
The landscaping is gorgeous and expertly designed by Michael. Additionally, as the “neighborhood historian”, he is an excellent resource for history on the Fairmount area. Stan was a wealth of knowledge on the happenings of Fort Worth, as well as the King of Response and Restaurant Suggestions. Okie, their black lab, is one of the bestest dogs and the most handsome good boy one could ever hope to meet.
The accommodations were welcoming, quaint, and comfortable. The bathroom was small, but three women on a night out at the Stockyards managed; consider yourself warned, but also deal with it. I had the fortune of the bed to myself and it was very comfortable; my comrades slept comfortably on the pull-out. Stan and Michael also have a fabulous record collection you’re welcome to peruse and even listen to. The kitchen has all the amenities you would need. The pool is pristine and a very comfortable temperature. It makes a great hangout spot in the sweltering heat, but do bring bug spray; the mosquitos are ferocious in Texas.
The location is in walking distance if Magnolia Ave. and the Fort Worth Zoo while the rest of the city is only a mere 10 minutes away via rental or Uber. Parking is not a problem at all. Public transport is great, too. We made it to our conference in 10 minutes via rental. My only regret is not checking out more of Magnolia Ave.
If you’re considering staying in Fort Worth for any reason, stay here. Stan, Michael, and Okie make the most excellent hosts and you will not regret your time here.
