Great weekend getaway

Beautiful property, wonderful location, attentive hosts, highly recommend!
A beautiful stay, and the hosts were amazing! The living quarters are a little small for an extended stay, but the exclusive use of the gorgeous, spacious sunroom, more than made up for it. Sitting in that room looking out onto the beautiful property, was a peaceful way to start each day. The hosts were kind and attentive to our every need.

Relaxing trip!
My husband and I enjoyed the breakfast provided, relaxing environment, and small town atmosphere of Nevada City and Grass Valley. The airport behind the property is for small prop planes so it’s not loud and it was fun to watch the planes taking off and landing from up close. The bear den is exactly as described and the grounds are beautiful. Ken and Julie are wonderful and have a gift for hospitality. Anyone looking for a nice cabin getaway in ill love staying here. Thank you Ken & Julie!

Fantastic get away
This is the second time we have stayed at the Bear Den. Julie and Ken are fantastic people. They are a wealth of information and kindness. Breakfast each morning was great. The bed in our room is like sleeping on the wings of angels. The sunroom has a pool table, lots of couches and chairs along with a TV that gets pretty much every channel you would ever want. They have a beautiful Koi Pond so if you book in the spring or summer don't forget to bring worms :) My wife and I are going back in the spring to see all the flowers and butterfly's. Oh, there are lots and lots of trails very close by for those who like to stretch their legs and see nature. Thank you, Julie and Ken for another wonderful visit. We so appreciate your hospitality and conversation.

Perfect getaway spot
My partner and I found this to be a perfect getaway spot. Having access to the sun room made all the difference as the room itself is not large but it served our needs just fine. The icing on the cake is the continental breakfast the host put out each morning which was truly beautiful. You can tell the hosts care for their property and are proud of their offering. We enjoyed the hot tub and being in the greenery!

EXCELLENT WOODSY GETAWAY
Our experience was excellent, next time we will stay more than one night, ALL PERFECT! Went to see the last of fall and all was perfect fall color surrounding this property. Property managers were perfect, fixing homemade waffle and bowl of oatmeal that was part of an amazing breakfast! Pleanty of alone time and lots fo help as needed from property managers. High Praise, bed very comfortable, BBQ clean and easy to use, wonderful outdoor fireplace to hang out in front of into the night! Thank you for a great memory and will be back in the spring!

Picturesque and Relaxing
If you want a place to stay that feels like home, somewhere where you can relax, and enjoy the views, this is the place for you. The owners, Ken and Julie, made us feel at home the minute we arrived. Our hosts created a wonderful experience. In addition to our room, they shared a beautiful sunroom and a patio overlooking an attractively landscaped backyard. This included a waterfall and Koi pond. Breakfast was included, which was a special treat. The bear den theme was felt throughout.

We loved our time at Ken and Julie's home in Grass Valley. It's a wonderful setting and excellent getaway, close to everything but still tucked away in the forest where you can get some great downtime. Highly recommend!

A Wonderful Weekend Get Away
Such a lovely home to relax, unwind. Ken and Julie are wonderful hosts, they made sure we have everything we need. The Bear Den room is so cute and comfortable. It was so nice to have breakfast in the sunroom. This is where we spent most of our time, watching TV, playing billiards. I love the privacy of this place; I enjoyed their hot tub as well. Makes you feel like you are away from the city. Location is great, close to restaurants and shopping. We will definitely go back. We so much loved our stay here.

Exactly what we needed!
For my husbands birthday I was looking for a place to stay near Grass Valley/Nevada City. This place was perfect! Julie and Ken went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. We enjoyed sitting in front of the fire at night and the delicious breakfast the next morning. Would definitely recommend.

It was a wonderful place to stay and breakfast was quite good. The owners went above & beyond. The property looks a little more remote than it actually is: which turned out to be super convenient for accessing either Grass Valley or Nevada City.

First of all, Ken and Julie were absolutely the best hosts. Whatever question we had, they answered. The breakfast they set out each morning was delicious- Julie makes the best blueberry muffins. We had the entire area (sunroom, jacuzzi, barbeque area, outdoor fireplace area, and outside sitting area by the koi pond to ourselves. Everything was super clean. Our bed was comfortable. It is very clear that the hosts love this place and take great care of it. We cannot wait to go back.

A lovely weekend getaway
My fiancé and I had an incredible stay at the Bear Den. We enjoyed the property including the hot tub. A cozy hideaway
My friend and I had a lovely stay here for a small birthday celebration. They added some personal touches with a happy birthday sign and made breakfast in the morning. The owners were so nice and helpful with every request we had. This location is close to amazing food and shopping in Nevada City, as well as hiking and other adventures. Lovely setting, awesome hosts!
We had an amazing time. This lovely wooded setting was so relaxing and beautiful. We had several soaks in the very nice hot tub. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area with a waterfall and Koi pond. We slept well— the bed was so comfortable! The hosts gave us complete privacy but were reachable when we needed anything. We look forward to revisiting this location in the future. Island in a storm
I was so lucky to find this wonderful destination! Ken and Julie accommodated me on short notice and welcomed me in to their home and made me feel like an old friend. They are truly a special couple and their property reflects their love for hosting! I highly recommend the Bear Den!
