A very compact and comfotable whare. All that we needed was available, from linen to utensils. The shower was the perfect end to our days, roomy, and the right amount of water pressure.Unfortunately the weather did not play its part however that is beyond control. I hope we left it in order.

Getaway Paradise
For us Ruru Whare is all about chilling out in a special place.Location by Aotea harbour is great for walks, swimming and relaxing on the studio deck watching the ever changing view. Ruru Whare is first class.

Loved view, comfortable couches, thoughtfulness of kitchen and towels etc, host was warm and great communication. Retracted from society, but also lovely to see the locals actively using the beach for fishing and boating. Beautiful clean linen, etc only let down in that regard was the mattress for my taste.

Lovely property in an amazing setting
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here but wish we’d stayed longer. The property is well equipped and very comfortable. Annette was very helpful prior to arrival and was always quick to respond to any queries. I’d highly recommend a stay to friends and family.

Had the best time. Relaxing, quiet, friendly. Dog friendly so could take dog for walks on the beach each day. Amazing views of Aotea Harbour and pretty much right on your doorstep. Ruru Whare has everything you need and more. Annette was a wonderful host. We will definitely be back again

We loved the unique location, seclusion and luxurious vibe of this property. The view is spectacular! Enjoyed the morning birdsong too.Very clean, well laid out, a great getaway for couples. It was hard to leave this piece of paradise.

Peaceful, comfortable accommodation, lovely area. Nice local chaps gave us some flounder fresh from the harbour. Quintessential NZ. Dog friendly too. Would definitely return. Highly recommend if you're looking for a relaxing private stay.

Home away from home
Loved our stay at Ruru Whare especially being able to bring our furry four legs along. Thank you Annette for being a good host and sharing your piece of paradise with us. Our only regret is not staying longer but we will definitely be back soon and will stay longer next time. The pictures don’t do justice for this place 😍.

Perfectly peaceful
Annette has the perfect spot overlooking the beach. We loved our stay, it was very peaceful. The perfect get away from the busy city. The cottage was beautifully set up with everything we needed, very well thought out and very clean and tidy. We also really appreciated that we were able to take our 2 dog who just enjoyed having the space to run. Thank you forbthe beautiful hospitality Annette!

Best Place to Be if caught in foul Weather
While the rest of the country was moaning about bad weather and high winds, we were tucked up in front of a blazing fire with Videos, a backgammon board and a good book. Who could complain. Our accommodation was everything we wanted and more. The large garage makes for a good place for two large dogs to share. In between the weather breaks we walked from our Whare to and up Aotea Beach to the mussel beds. Aotea offers a safe place to walk with dogs. Highly recommend Ruru Whare, it has all the comforts of home and an unequalled view of the harbour. The owner of the property goes out of her way to accommodate her guests A place to stay especially if your family includes your pets as members of the family.
