This cabin is beautiful. The property is breathtaking, and the wildlife is fun and friendly! My daughter got a kick out of feeding the chipmunks by hand.
The check in process was a little rocky, because our code didn't work when we arrived to unlock the door, and my parents had coolers full of frozen food, and everyone was exhausted and cranky from the 7 hour drive. That being said, I emailed the host and she responded within 12 minutes, and a few minutes later we were in. So it really wasn't a big deal. The host is super responsive and very friendly!!
I stayed with my 70 year old parents, and my 6 year old daughter, and our 2 small dogs. There are 3 bedrooms (plus a bonus room, with a twin sized bed). One bedroom is downstairs, right next to the bathroom, which was super convenient for my parents. The other sleeping rooms are up a steep, narrow set of wooden stairs, which did make me nervous with our daughter & 11 year old dogs going up and down, but there is an arm rail. The 2 main bedrooms upstairs are large and very cozy. The middle one is small, but has the best view!!
The kitchen and bathroom were clean, and the shower has excellent water pressure. The living room is cozy, and the fireplace came in handy the first week were there when the temps dropped into the 60s. The A/C worked beautifully for the second week, which was in the mid 80's!! You do not need to bring any extra fans or heaters for your stay.
You might expect the bugs to be bad in the middle of this wooded area, however, the property is treated professionally for pests, so the bugs weren' t bad at all. The only bugs I noticed in the cabin were some silverfish, which honestly are hard to get rid of in an all wood cabin on the edge of a river.
The deck is huge! If you step out there in the evenings with the wind blowing towards the cabin, and look out at the water, it feels like you're on a cruise ship. The patio furniture was very nice as well, and looked either brand new or very well kept.
We took the small canoe and the kayak out on our last day, which was a lot of fun. The waters edge is covered in duckweed and full of frogs, turtles, and snakes, so it was fun to paddle through it all.
The area this cabin is located in is quiet, with friendly neighbors, and lots of wildlife. The public lot is very "local" and convenient, and the general store at the boat launch has both gas and worms, and is within walking distance.
I would definitely stay here again!! :-)
