House is private, spacious, has a large kitchen. Bathrooms and laundry were clean. There are beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels.
Agency was v helpful. We shipped a package, they stayed late at the office so we could pick it up. The trash wasn't collected, but when we called, someone came and got it.
They linked us a co that rents kid’s eqpt, and that was easy. We avoided bringing a crib, stroller, beach toys, and a beach tent!
Flaws with staying here:
One review said house has air conditioning. It does have 2 a/c units. They are not installed, and do not have the accordions to seal the doors. My husband set them up and filled the gaps with pillows. While they blew cold air, was not enough to chill the main room. The last few days we set one up in the bedroom, then we didn't want to spend any time in the rest of the house - might as well have gotten a hotel room. Listing does not mention A/C, so we shouldn't have expected it. It was still a primary reason why we chose this rental and we were disappointed.
The windows need to be locked because of the risk of break-ins, but it is v hot when you get back. My dad had heat exhaustion after a hike and we didn't bring him back to the house because he would just get hotter. We spent the rest of the day driving around with the AC on.
There is a microwave, but none of the dishes are microwave safe. Two people burned their hands taking plates out of it.
We ran out of TP, paper towels, trash bags, and dish detergent.
The road to Hanalei is closed most of the day on weekdays because of a landslide, and you will wait in line to get through. I'm not sure when this will be resolved, but you should check before you book. Completely out of anyone’s control and it means the beaches are pretty quiet during the week!
Some work needed to be done - they consulted with us when we checked-in. Would've been nice to finish before we got there. There were aluminum shavings on the lanai which we found on my DD’s feet for the rest of the trip. Debris filled up the trash cans. Since the work is done, shouldn't be a problem!
Re other reviews:
Yes, there are mosquitos. This is the jungle and you will get bit. We didn't see any other bugs - the house was spotless. Close the screens and the house and lanai are safe.
The house is private but not isolated. There are neighbors through the trees. We didn't see anyone, but we could hear people, cars, dogs. No one else was "staying" on the property.
