Wonderful getaway retreat
My grown children and I had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. Access to the lake for fishing and canoeing is an added bonus to the convenient location. The path down to the water is a significant decline due to the elevation change. There were only maybe 10 steps down to the house from the driveway. I’m not sure if our sedan would have been able to navigate the gravel drive in front of the house so I was glad to have our SUV. I think there is a little gravel pull off though at the top of the drive you can use if you don’t have a car that can navigate the steep drive. The home was lovely and had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed coffee and reading as well as dinner on the deck, and one campfire. Unfortunately the neighbor was power washing or something similar from about 8:30 am until 6pm during half of our stay which nixed the peaceful atmosphere of the deck. Definitely not the property owner’s issue, and that was easily solved with a hiking trip. Convenient location to drive to a number of fantastic hikes. During our four day stay we took advantage of Rainbow/Turtle Back falls, Bearhollow Falls, High Falls near Sylva and a trip into Highlands to see Bridal Veil and Dry Falls. Visitor Center at Rainbow Falls is very nice with restrooms and information about the natural history of the area. Loved the farmer’s market grocer in Cashiers and Blue Bike cafe in Highlands. We would definitely stay here again!
