The wooden cabin with grass roof at Brekke Cabins was perfect for our family! We were there 3 nights, but wished we could have stayed longer. The cabin was very clean, comfortably furnished and the kitchen had everything we needed.
The location in the tiny town of Ortnevik on the Sognefjord is spectacular. We had breathtaking views of the fjord from our porch and amazing hiking right from the cabin door.
Highlights of our stay included: exploring the sculpture garden on the property (carved by the owner's father); hiking to the lake above the cabin, and the waterfall beyond that; meeting friendly, local cows on the trails. It is truly one of the most beautiful, peaceful places we have ever been, and we hope to get back someday!
One note: We rented a car for our trip, and arrived by ferry from Nordeide to Ortnevik. Ideally, you should have a reservation for this ferry. We did not know this, and luckily there was a spot for us, but make a reservation if you can. Also, you must back the car onto this ferry.
