Beautiful property
The cabin and property were both beautiful. The home was clean and had a well-appointed kitchen. Upon arrival, the house had a strong, musty smell, but opening the windows and lighting candles rid the home of the musty aroma. My daughter has allergies, and I was concerned the scent would make it difficult for her, but she had no issues. There was a road and several small cabins between the home and the lake, but you could see between them to the water; only a small amount of the view was blocked. One of the bedrooms was not accessible from the home, but rather you had to walk outside and to the back of the house to enter that room. It was disappointing that the room could not be accessed from the main part of the house, but my son and his wife volunteered to take it so the rest of us could be upstairs with the baby. That separate space opened to a beautiful patio. There were two decks, one off the other; that was our favorite part of the home. There were built-in gates that kept the baby and the dogs on the decks, which made using that space more relaxing. The kayaks were under the deck, and no one wanted to pull them out, so we did not use them, but I assume that if we had, it would have made the stay even better. The owner was very communicative and eager to make our stay great. Overall, the home was beautiful, and we had a wonderful weekend.

Perfection
We stayed 7 days here for a family vacation. My grown kids, my parents, my husband and dog. The Lodge accommodated all of us. We fished everyday. We swam every day. Fixed huge family dinners every night. Then we chilled out in the hot tub at night. Thank you Alicia for opening your home. We will definitely be back! Maybe every year :)

Great Vacation Home
Our stay here was great. Home is exactly as described and well suited for anyone with mobility issues. Furniture was comfortable, kitchen was well stocked and was thankful to have linens, towels and beach towels provided. Host was easy to communicate with and very helpful. She definitely cares about her guests having a good time. Dock was very nice also. Boat sits down off dock so may be difficult for someone with mobility issues. Loved that we could drive right down to dock if we didn’t want to use stairs. Definitely recommend staying here.

Best vacation ever

Beautiful, Spacious, Quiet
Great outdoor deck space. Spacious floor plan. Property area is quiet & remote. We had 7 people and rented main lodge and the attached 4th bedroom. Kitchen is not large but nicely redone and well stocked with most everything you need. Dock is about 60 steps from lodge but you can drive down to it. We've stayed at much worse slopes down to the dock. Overall, an excellent week and would stay here again!

Girls trip
We had the BEST stay. Beautiful home, beautiful views. Such a relaxing getaway. We brought the pontoon boat, enjoyed the views, and the dock was perfect for our picnic. Great kitchen, bedrooms were perfect. Would not have asked for a better host.

What an amazing property! Our group enjoyed the serene location, beautiful mountain views and the quieter end of the lake. The house was well apportioned, we particularly enjoyed the spacious multi-tiered deck and hot tub which we put to use everyday. Highly recommend!

Fantastic weekend getaway!
We had a wonderful time at the Yowell’s log cabin lodge. Our family consists of 6 adults, one toddler and family dogs and the setting was wonderful for our getaway weekend. The view is spectacular and the home is very comfortable and well equipped. We were blessed with a picture perfect Nov. weekend with warm days and cool nights and the fall colors were still vibrant. Alicia was very accommodating and easy to reach. We are already planning a time to return!

Great Girls Getaway
We had 2.5 glorious days on the dock and enjoyed the hot tub on the rainy day. It was fantastic to be able to drive to the dock. The living area seating was perfect for our group as was the large dining table. It’s wonderful to have linens, TP, and several other items provided. Our hostess was attentive to our needs, and we appreciated her thoughtfulness.

End of Summer Family werkwnd
What a wonderful lodge! We always come to SML after Labor Day ever year to enjoy the less busy but still warm and lovely lake! An added plus was being near Mitchell’s Point Marina where we enjoyed a delicious meal and great live music! We would def stay again! The kayaks and paddle board were a big hit too and convenient since they were right on the property. Thank you Alicia for your hospitality!

Family Time ... in Paradise
Our family trip was truly paradise ... the lodge exceeds all of our expectations ... all of the amenities were clean, the kitchen was completely stocked and the pantry, stocked with all cooking supplies. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were so comfortable. The open layout allowed for the entire group to socialize while doing so many activities, playing games, eating, watching TV and quietly reading a book while enjoying the view ... as I watched my family enjoy our family time, I was so thankful that we were able to find such a beautiful place to make our memories.

Lovely home for family trip
This home is truly a lovely place for extended family, including your doggies. We had so much fun and spent some great time together as a family. The dock fit our rented boat and jet skis perfectly and the 4 bedrooms were great - including the one that is separate from the rest for some privacy. Will definitely stay here again!

Easy Five Star Rating
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Smith Mountain Lake property. The unit was well kept, had a great view, and the no-wake cove was wonderful. The Owner Alicia was an excellent hostess as she took the time to call immediately after we booked it and we had a long conversation about the property. She also kept in close contact providing information all along the way. We unfortunately had a short power outage when there and when we contacted her to see how we could report it, she responded within minutes, and then provided a link to the power company site with all the details so we could track the progress. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, would highly recommend, and give it Five Stars.

Fab Family Gathering
Beautiful Lodge on the lake! Welcoming, warm, comfortable furnishings, living area is so nicely arranged with multiple seating arrangements, and oh my, the view!! Well equipped kitchen, updated appliances working like a charm. Everyone loved the beds, one of my family was actually looking to see what kind of mattress was on the bed, she had slept so well. The outdoor areas are top notch, plenty of seating, with beautiful views of the lake and Smith Mt. The hottub is amazing, fab stargazing in the evening. Dock areas are easily accessed by either road or stairs, with comfortable seating for 12. Kayaks were used by all ages, everything you need to enjoy the water. Don't forget your fishing poles if you enjoy throwing in a line. Kiddos and adults had a blast. Tons of wildlife, deer going by all the time. Owner, Alicia is wonderful to work with, called me the day before to inform me would could have early check in. This was so appreciated, considering we had family driving from FL, driving from MD, and flying from TX. Those of us driving were able to adjust and arrive earlier, and start enjoying this beautiful property!

Overall we had a pleasant stay at Alicia’s home and our booking experience and communication with Alicia was seamless. She even waived the boat rental fee knowing we had bad weather, which we appreciated. She also allowed our family’s two dogs and was very transparent about expectations for clean-up in advance, which was helpful. There are few things around the house that could use updating - top rack of the dishwasher needs fixing, we couldn’t find the gas grill that’s listed in the description, but in fairness we didn’t ask and didn’t end up needing it, walls are thin and some of the bedroom doors were tough to close and made a loud noise which made it tricky at bedtime with toddlers, but may not be an issue otherwise. Be advised you have to dispose of your own trash at check out (drive it to a dumpster). The deck was a bit messy when we arrived, but Alicia was responsive and offered to send out the cleaner, which we appreciated but declined. Because of its location and the fact we were there in late May, we found several ticks on our bodies and the dogs - just FYI to be mindful of that! Given the location I’d also recommend guests pack a day or two of groceries with them as it’s at least 20 mins each way to a substantial grocery store. I would recommend Alicia’s home since she is a wonderful and caring host and the location is beautiful and quiet. I only wish we had better weather to fully enjoy the dock and the lake itself!

Wonderful place, perfect large cove!
We had an absolute wonderful time staying at this lodge. The cove was large enough to have very clean, circulating water so nice for swimming even after a day on the boat. The home was spacious with comfortable bedding and hangout areas. Loved bringing the dogs!

Restful, Relaxing and Fun
We had a great time at this mountain escape! Gorgeous lake perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddle board and just hanging on a float! The house has a charming rustic feel and is equipped with everything and more you could possibly need. Alicia is super responsive and very easy to communicate with. Thanks for a lovely week!
