The Westin Nanea is a dream property for families, especially those with younger kids. Here's what we loved.
- Amazing snorkeling right in front of the property. Sea Turtles. Octopus. Kinda unbelievable. So bring masks and snorkels for everyone in your crew. They do rent them, but it's much more expensive than just buying and packing your own.
- Full Kitchen. There's only one restaurant on site, and it's pricey. We ate there and the food was delicious, but having a full kitchen allowed us to buy some groceries and at least feed the kids breakfast in the room before they ate their own bodies. There are a LOT of outdoor grills and it seemed everyone else bought food to grill. Lots of dads in full dad mode cooking steak, fish, chicken, etc. It was a fun vibe.
- Pools. These were VERY active pools full of kids having fun. If you're looking for a quiet, chill pool, this isn't it. But for families - it was awesome.
- Activities. You could stay on property for your entire vacation and fill you days with things like lei making, hula lessons, and more.
- Access to Westin Villas. It's a short walk down the beach and you get access to another pool with a bigger slide and some other restaurants. You DO NOT have access to Westin Maui or the other Marriott properties on the island. There's some bad information out there.
I wouldn't recommend this for honeymooners or romantic getaways, but for a family vacay, it doesn't get much better.
