Killarney area cottage
As this is a self check-in it would be most helpful to have a three-ring binder listed with items such as “how to” use the peat stove, turn on the hot water, turn on the heat, identify the wifi code. There is a binder filled with bar and restaurant info but what I recommend is different. I did email the host about the wifi code and he let me know it is posted near the TV. As I don’t watch TV I did not think to look in that space. I wanted to try the peat stove as on my Dingle Way walk I saw cut pieces of peat. The host sent his father to the cottage to show us how to do this. There were no fire starters however so the host’s father went to get some.
Communication - I don’t think the host routinely checks the VRBO messaging as I misunderstood that the 1600 check-in was the time the unit was available and not the time to meet the host. I sent a reply that I wouldn’t arrive until 1700 and did not get a reply. That would have been a good opportunity to reply with a reminder that we can go ahead and enter the cottage. However, without an “operating manual” one really needs someone to greet them. Something else to be told in advance is how to manage the food waste “garbage.” I did not see until the morning we were leaving that the guest is responsible to going to a location in Killarney to pick up brown paper liners for this type of compostable trash. That direction is in a very small font on a one-page paper.
