This very spacious farmhouse is actually part of an intergenerational family farm and restaurant where you can see many animals up close, get a fresh breakfast, and even take cooking classes. During our stay, we enjoyed back porch views of the Arenal volcano and rainforest wildlife, playing in the mini-pool that was perfect for kids, and learning about how to press sugar cane (and all the other flora) grown on the farm. Lola, the family dog was a treat as well. The drive into the town of La Fortuna is only about 5 minutes and our hosts had several ideas for us to explore that were enriching and inexpensive. Some of our favorites were a hike to see a waterfall, the El Salto rope swing, and free hot springs. We highly recommend this stay for families with children and folks who want an experience that is off the beaten path, but still kind of close to it.
