Initially, all seemed fine. Then tried to unlock the door with the code- didn’t unlock but a side door was unlocked. Leslie (host #2), said " we really should replace that lock. It's been giving us problems." House: 1) downstairs was cool; 2) upstairs was sweltering; and 3) the staircase was very dangerous - it had an open side with no railing and a deep top step. NOT for seniors or children & not mentioned in the listing). We are both in our 70s so we'd be sleeping downstairs on a pull out rather than a bed. Expensive pull out. Hottest day of the year and the downstairs was now getting hotter. We called Todd (host #1). Todd first told us the house had AC. Then no, there used to be window AC units. Todd came to check (with some expletives thrown in). There was a (broken) central unit that was supposed to force cool air from the basement through the house. He put an AC unit in the only bedroom upstairs that had the right window. Made very little difference. Todd said he’d get an electrician over to check central system. His handyman came with another window AC (for the tucked-away downstairs laundry room, so no help for the upstairs) and had no clue why the forced air system wasn’t working. He suggested we go to a hotel. We did.
Bottom line: Hosts were very responsive though didn’t solve anything. AC not in the description: my fault. Forced-air system broken: host’s fault. V. dangerous staircase was dealbreaker. Refunded 50%. Should have been 100%
