Fabulous Stay
Such a great time. Only 10 minutes from Indiana Beach. Loved having morning coffee on the deck every morning. Place was clean and so adorable. We will be back if coming to Indiana again.

Cozy cottage
My family and I really enjoyed our stay here! We enjoyed the house, it was really like a home away from home. Most definitely enjoyed the private deck over the water. We were fortunate enough to see some of the neighbors doing beautiful fireworks. We were able to bring our dogs, which is a huge plus. We went to Indiana beach one day and the house is so close we were able to come back and cool off a few times! I would definitely recommend staying at this property! It truly met all of our needs.

Just as Advertised
Came to the area to visit family and decided to try this cabin in lieu of a hotel room. Best choice ever! This cabin far exceeds any hotel in the Monticello area. It was just as described. Clean, well furnished and perfectly comfortable. Location was great; 10 minutes from the Kroger and Walmart. Lake view was nice and the deck was perfect for early mornings and evening for relaxing. Very quiet area of the lake. The sunroom was also perfect for when the weather was not suited for being outside. Overall… it was perfect for us and we will be back when we are in the area again.

Great weekend getaway
We had a great time here MDW. The deck was perfect for lounging while we did crosswords and played cards, and we had many meals out there. On rainy days, the couch was comfy for lounging and watching our favorite shows. The cottage has a very well equipped kitchen - I usually bring a few kitchen things of my own because I never know what to expect, and they had everything we needed including good knives, basic oil and spices, and plenty of pots and pans. We would absolutely stay here again!

Bob and Jayne are the best hosts ever. Awesome cabin right on the lake. Great deck overhanging the water with a lot of sitting area. Fire pit for evening enjoyment lake side. I’d recommend this cabin to anyone and we will be returning 👍

Great Getaway
The owner contacted me beforehand with helpful information and a pleasant welcome. The cottage was nicely decorated, very clean and fully equipped. I especially loved the deck overlooking the water and the all seasons room. I had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this property.

What a beautiful cottage and the deck out on the water was wonderful. They had everything set up and the decor was beautiful. The host checked with us when we seen him outside to make sure everything was perfect. Loved the place and will be back next summer for sure.

Great stay
The property manager was easy to communicate with! Always great in my book! The cottage was cozy, very well decorated, and perfect size! It had everything we needed! We enjoyed the lake view from the screened in porch and played games. We did travel with a dog and toddler, so the grounds wasn’t great. No area really to walk our dog or to let the toddler run around. To swim, you need a life jacket and our dog/toddler couldn’t swim because it is deep. We spent the day at Indiana Beach and it is close to some good restaurants. We would be back for an adult only getaway!

RELAXING GET-AWAY
We SO enjoyed our few days at Shafer Lake. Our little cottage was perfect and we rarely left the beautiful deck! Jane and Bob were fantastic hosts…friendly and helpful with all our questions. We hope to go back some time!

Peaceful Cottage
Cottage was clean with nice updates it was peaceful and quiet We just wanted to get a weekend away from our house and away from the city and this was perfect! It was also dog friendly. Our miniature schnauzer actually really enjoyed herself too, you could tell, and we definitely will be back!

Great place to stay
2.of my friends and I stayed here earlier this year and the owners, husband and wife I believe, were very friendly, the house was very clean and cozy, and there was a great view of the lake. The only issue, which we spoke with the owners about, was the lack of access to the lake directly from the property. We had a raft that we had to just jump into because there was no ladder, and ended up getting a few holes in it due to the hooks in the wall. No big deal, and the owners said they wanted to change that. I want to find this property next year and see if the changes were made and definitely stay again!

Cozy cottage
This is a very accurate description of this cottage! It was definitely cozy and decorated SO cute! It was steps away from the Lake and was visible from the 4 seasons room off the living room where you can dine or just relax. I did a lot of cooking because my husband wanted to stay put so he could fish, and my only suggestion for the fully equipped kitchen ( they had everything you need to whip up delicious meals) would be the addition of some wine glasses. I ended up buying some plastic ones at the Kroger in town but glass would have been preferable! We had a lovely stay and it was so peaceful ... we highly recommend this cozy cottage!

Peaceful and quiet!
Was exactly what I was looking for, time away from the rat race of the city. The photos on line were exactly what we found upon arrival. The residence was spotless and the manager made sure if we needed anything they were available next door.

Enjoyed our stay, will definitely be back.
This place is everything you need for a fun, enjoyable lake experience. The property is right on the water with a private deck and fire pit. It was also a very quick drive to a handful of restaurants, as well as a Kroger, and boat rental marina. (We used lake shafer boat rentals). We zero issues with checking in/checking out. And the house has everything you need! We will definitely consider this same property for a fun lake get away in the future.
