Walking distance to the ocean, grocery store and downtown as advertised. However, cleanliness and supplies were lacking. I’ve stayed at 5 Dana Point or Laguna Beach rentals in the last 14 months. This was the most expensive with the fewest amenities apart from the very convenient location.
Cleanliness: The most-used surfaces and linens were clean, but there were food stains on the kitchen wall, much dirt in crevices of the stove and fridge; also on the baseboards. The biggest yuck for me was the Brita filter having black mold around the parts and dirty finger prints. The seal on the fridge is falling off.
Amenities: Only pantry items were salt and pepper, some packets of ground coffee, 3 packets of sugar and many packets of sugar substitutes. There was no oil/vinegar, tea bags, spices, and other items found in all the other places. There were no storage containers with lids Pans were mostly peeling Teflon. There was no foil, plastic wrap, baggies. There were no stationery supplies. This became important because one windy night I returned to the casement window in the kitchen blown open. I was able to seal it by moving the metal bars that had been left open on all the house windows. However during the night I rose to a clanging which was the living room window blown open. I needed a means of tying it shut and had to count on a rubber band I brought from home. It was cold, windy and a security breach.
Under the kitchen sink was supposed to be a first aid kit and fire extinguisher. Instead there was a rat-size glue trap. Pest control stopped by to ask if the problem was gone.
There was no visible washer/dryer as listed.
My feeling was there was no pride of ownership.
