This quiet shabby two story lake front camp on Glen Lake is quite eclectic, a composition of construction materials, paint and summer camp furniture.
From the driveway at the end of the road it is an eighteen step drop down to the main floor outside patio with BBQ grill. Enter the premises and be greeted with a high lake view. No bad camp odor. Everything for a couple day stay seemed to be there in the open kitchen, dining and living room area on this level. Half bath is also on this floor. It needs a remodel on the wall paper. The two balconies on lake side are narrow and a couple of boards were loose. Not sure if railings are up to code. If you have small children never leave them unsupervised on the balconies.
Be aware that there is a TV but there is no cable. You get three stations: StarTV, ME and I don't know. If you like The Closer, The Flintstones, Andy Griffith, Mash and Leave it to Beaver you're all set.
The kitchen has most supplies but I would encourage you to bring your basics: dish soap, paper towels, your fresh choice of spices and sponge. It was adequately clean. I couldn't get the microwave to work.
Fortunately it wasn't too cold this mid September week. We didn't need to turn on heat, except for the downstairs bathroom. The lighting in bath is minimal and the shower dark. All bedrooms are located on the downstairs floor. Blankets were a minimum but all seemed to be clean. Towels are provided, but no wash clothes. The hallway and stairs down are dark. No light on the stairway. I left a light on upstairs to provide some night lighting for 12 stairs down.
The smoke detector downstairs needed a new battery. I don't think the master bedroom had a heater.
From the main living floor it is 44 stairs to the dock. So if you can't negotiate steps this is not the place for you. The hand rail is wobbly and in need of a new rail to avoid splinters. Be careful
The lake is quiet in September. It was a nice place to watch sun rise, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the peace while the fish swam by. I brought my canoe and kayak. Perfect.
As a quiet getaway from news, covid and politics this place provided the simple solution. I only live 20 miles away and I felt like I was in a faraway pleasant world.
