Spacious, well supplied, well lighted, thoughtfully decorated and appointed space. We spent three weeks relaxing, rejuvenating, walking on nearby trails - Haystack Mountain and the Peninsula Trail in Lake Placid - reading, writing, doing artwork. Great wifi and technology. Great local and organic produce and prepared foods at Nori's in Town, Coffee at Origins - all you need. Loved being in this quiet, wooded house.
Major problem with misrepresentation: the walk to Mackenzie Pond is NOT open to the people who stay in this house, regardless of what the listing says. It is a private right of way not accessible legally or appropriately through the neighbor's property. Major problem contacting the designated person for an issue. The contact person, who is the owner, has a number for you to call, but it has a full mailbox so one cannot leave a message. I contacted, via email, EVOLVE, because we saw a SQUIRREL in the kitchen- during the day. I live in the country. I understand mice, etc. And, yes, squirrels. However, that is something to call about, and that is something that EVOLVE needed to know. And, at least check out the place - or let the owner know. I received a reply: We are sorry blah blah, you will have $250 off your next rental.
That was it. We plugged the area where we saw the squirrel disappear (under the stove), heard things at night, but never saw another. We put our bananas and tomatoes in the Microwave at night having found chewed areas in them when we forgot. We found chewed toilet paper hanging from the dispenser roll. As I said, we live in the country so we weren't freaked or even flustered. But, our house? We would have at least wanted to check it out to see if we could locate the egress or entry. Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, we loved the play.
