When we booked this property. We kind of knew what to expect, so we weren't surprised when it was as anticipated. This is a true jungle house it is totally open to the outside. There are 4 bedrooms that have mosquitoe nets and oscillating fans, and while we visited during the rainy season, with the fan running and the nets in place we were perfectly comfortable. In fact, a couple of evenings I got chilly. There are ceiling fans in the main living areas and once again, even with the humidity, we were comfortable and the circulation of air kept the bugs at bay. If you don't like spiders, geckos, and an occasional ant, then this place isn't for you. They're are also free raoming dogs and cats on the property, I'm sure the owner can keep them in her lot, if this is an issue for you. We were not bothered and had a little black kitty spend our whole trip with us. Probably the only downside for us was the detached bathroom. It can be a little scary in the middle of the night heading out to the toilet. While it was a slight inconvenience, we made the best of it, and kept flash lights by the bed, to be sure we could find our way. The shower was spacious and clean and the water was warm. There was water cylinders available in the kitchen and bath. The kitchen is basic, but had everything we required, including the most important coffee and several options for brewing. There were pots, pans, towels and utensils available. The wifi is a little spotty, but if you're there to unplug, it is perfect.
The highline of this property is its location. It's approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile off the road, in the middle of the forest which backs up to the nature preserve. You wake us every morning to the sound of howler monkeys, can sit on the upper or lower deck and see 3 types of monkeys ALL around you. Coming close enough for awesome pictures. The sounds of nature are all around you, birds, frogs, monkeys and much more. It was the most peaceful I've felt in my whole life, and would have been fine with just staying on one of the decks our whole trip. And, don't forget to look up for sloths toucans, and the occasional McCay. Many would call this Glamping+ .
The property is within walking distance of a small grocery, restaurants and the most pristine beaches I've been on. If you need a ride, into Puerto Viejo or Manzanillo just ask the grocery clerk to call a taxi or tuk tuk.
Over all this property was beyond our expectations. 5 stars
