We recently spent a week a on Little Cayman with friends and stayed at The "Tarpon House. It turned out to be one of our best vacations ever. Little Cayman Island is so unique, easy enough to get to from Grand but certainly that less developed island you have heard about and hoped for. However at the same time there are plenty of small quaint resorts to visit for lunch, dinner or drinks. Food at all of these spots was wonderful, lots of fresh seafood and salads, shaded porches with vistas to gaze at. Typical days started with a snorkeling adventure somewhere around the island although we frequented the Blood Bay Wall, and Jackson's Bite multiple times. Imagine swimming out off the shore and then watching 3 foot rays swim by 40 feet down , we saw a 5 foot sea turtle one day gnoshing on the turtle grass, tropical fish galore . . . almost spiritual. We snorkeled everyday sometimes twice. After the snorkeling we often had a libation from our cooler in one of the covered rustic cabanas built on the beach "Live Fully" see if you can find that one.
Most meals at night we cooked in, there were a number of couples and we all shared the duties, which made it really fun . Leave a bit of time when you are on Grand to head to the super market and bring some foldable coolers as Brian suggested. The supermarket on the island had a decent selection. There is also plenty of fresh fish , conch and lobster to be found on the island too, we had it all.
We had some great meals, and Tarpon house is made for entertaining , big open floor plan, with a killer screened in porch, so cool to hear the ocean crashing on the shore at nighttime under the moon. Three big bedrooms and if you are lucky enough to draw the straw for the master suite , it is one beautiful spacious retreat. The views are phenomenal from the property.
I cannot say enough good things about this vacation , the Tarpon House, Llittle Cayman, and Brian , who was a delight to deal with, although we never had to once we were there.
There is a TV too , not sure why we never turned it on.
Book a week we will be back, this island paradise recharges you for sure.
