Lake house family fun!
We loved our stay at the lake house! Our family had a wonderful 3 night stay just relaxing & enjoying the fall weather. We did some kayaking, drove 20 minutes to a haunted corn maze, went to the flea market right up the road and then enjoyed a day in downtown Raleigh. We celebrated our dog’s 10th birthday there and it made it so special to have him with us. We made some wonderful memories and will forever cherish our time together there. Beautiful home!

Family Getaway
Oh My Goodness this place is amazing! My husband just retired from the Navy and we wanted to unplug with our family and enjoy some time before civilian life begins. We found this place and it was EXACTLY as listed and even nicer in person. We had 6 adults, 2x12 yr olds a 10 yr old and a dog. We had PLENTY of room and then some. Our mornings were filled with coffee on the screened-in porch while the fellas casted lines off the dock. The kiddos loved tubing and the lake water was so clear and clean. We took the boat to dinner one night at WatersVew and it was very delicious with a great view...plus only like a 5 min boat ride just past mile marker 9 just past the Eaton's ferry bridge. Never have I stayed at a place for the week where we only had to go to the grocery store once...but this place is stocked with everything you could need. We followed suit and paid it forward leaving things we thought the next family might find useful. Even the light switches are labeled, such a nice touch! Big shout out to the house Uno deck as we had some cut throat games every night! There are more than enough floats, chairs, life vests anything and everything you could ever think of. We had one downfall...my daughter did break her wrist but thanks to the very informative notebook provided by the host we had already seen info to the closest Urgent Care and Emergency Department. Although sad and terrifying I was so thankful to have that information already tucked in the back of my mind.

An amazing get away for the family.
The house is in a really great location and has all the amenities you need. It is truly cove style with main lake views. The hosts are really responsive and super helpful and friendly.

Great Time at Cardinal Cove
Stayed the week at Cardinal Cove. My kids and grandkids had a great time swimming off the dock. We rented a pontoon boat for three days and was able to tie up the boat at the dock. Easy access to the lake.

Perfect Spring Break Trip
Great house!! We had a wonderful time and the property was perfect. Plenty of parking, an easily accessible dock (and water toys), and an ideal yard with a firepit and dog run. We would definitely rent again! THANK YOU!!

Early Fall Getaway
We gathered to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday and what a great weekend! The property is right on the water and has lots of places to hang out - hard to pick which one. We appreciated the time together so much and beautiful weather certainly helped with the gorgeous lake views.

Lake Gaston Family Getaway
Our family of ten enjoyed our stay at Cardinal Cove. The water toys available were fun for the entire family, especially the paddle boat. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils. The upstairs sitting area was a little small for our family movie watching but the downstairs sitting area worked fine. The property is older and needs a bit of maintenance on walkway to lake specifically the handrails. Inside, the property is updated with new lighting and fans. A grocery store is very close by for those food items forgotten. Tropical storm Ophelia arrived during our stay but only dampened one day. The lake was nice and even the puppy got into swimming. The owners were responsive. Book your next lake adventure here.

Christmas in August

Great Vacay!
Our stay at Cardinal Cove was fabulous! The house and outdoor space was perfect! We (humans and dogs) all enjoyed our time very much. The description and photos are very accurate. Nice, quiet, and safe neighborhood. Great view of the lake. The fishing was good too. We caught sunfish, white perch, largemouth bass, and blue catfish right off the dock. If you want to get away from it all and reconnect with friends and family, Cardinal Cove is the perfect place.

Great layout, well equip kitchen, boat house, outside chairs. We found some dishes & cookware that were dirty. Oven light out. Carpets were not vacuumed. Some updates needed. Promised we could take occupancy early, key pad on timer didn’t let us in until after 4. Some of the toilets need repairs. But overall we had a good stay.

Spring Break getaway we all need!
We took our family of 3 generations here for the kid's (age 10 & 12) Spring Break 2023, the first full week of April. My Father-in-law is 80 and was able to manage the house easily; though, the stairs to the water are no joke, even for the fit folks. Stick to the stairs, as the yard way down presents odd footing. It felt as if we went to a family member's home, everything we needed in the kitchen and bedrooms was already there. The gas grill fired up easily and we enjoyed grilling multiple times. The fire pit and complimentary Smore's kit was an overwhelming success; we did have to grab firewood at the nearby Food Lion. All the tools for managing the fire and toasting the marshmallows were there too. The kids and adults loved the available life jackets, kayaks, stand-up paddle board, and the paddle boat. The cove is nicely off the main lake which minimized the impact of the wind. We were fortunate to get the sun most days, temps low 80s and the water was chilly but kind at 60°ish. We had two fishermen in our group that spent nearly every opportunity casting lines off the dock. We visited Stonehouse Timber Lodge for live minnows that proved very worth the trip. We had success with artificial baits, just not as much. We caught more than a dozen bass with the biggest 3 ' 11 oz, several catfish with the biggest nearly 5 pounds, and a ton of Crappie at a pound or better. A wonderful trip no doubt, and if you have a chance, get doughnuts from Jenny Cakes just around the corner.

Homey With Amazing View!
Seriously, the views from each room are just terrific! It's seems a quiet little cove when you're standing on the dock with a fishing pole, but up in the house you know you're part of the main lake and you can see across to the other side. Sunrises are fantastic! The house matched up perfectly (plus some) to the listing with maybe a few great surprises thrown in... (We were here for Thanksgiving and there were Christmas decorations up... SO thoughtful and lovely!) And if you like to cook- the kitchen is ready for you! Extremely well stocked with more than just "the basics". Owners were super-friendly and helpful, responded right away to answer a question we had... Overall, a great experience, a really comfortable stay, and a wonderful vacation... with GORGEOUS sunrises!!

Nice Summer Retreat
Our family enjoyed staying at Cardinal Cove. The deck, water floats, kayaks and paddle board provided for most of our outdoor time. The water was shallow enough for my 5 year old grandchildren to comfortably play. (There were tiny worm-like leaches that stuck to our feet, but that is lake life.) The house is well insulated so noise from other floors was not highly noticeable and the layout & space was enough to accommodate my family and friends. There were also 3 fold-out tables that were nice to have for setting up extra eating spaces and a place to put together a puzzle or play games. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and were well-pleased with the property and all it provided.

Amazing stay at Cardinal Cove! The property is everything in the listing and more. Plenty of space for people to spread out and more than enough water toys and games to keep everyone happy. Super clean, kitchen is well stocked. Quiet street and cove. Couldn't ask for a better stay.

Family vacation success!
Awesome location! Tucked away but not in the middle of nowhere. Accommodating. Lots of kitchen utensils etc since we did all of our meals at the house. Wonderful little dock. Pet friendly! We haven’t had a family vacation since I was a kid so having the family from different states meet up together and enjoy each other’s company was just a true blessing. Thank you for having us and I’d love to return back to this location for another family vacation. My family is already discussing it as a yearly thing.

So amazing we extended our stay!
Everything was seamless and super easy. Mendy responded very quickly and was available for us at all times if needed. The house was so relaxing and the views from the house and deck were beautiful. The house was nicely updated and had everything we needed and more. Very clean. Loved the access to the water toys, which made the experience that much more amazing! Definitely recommend and would go back in a heartbeat.

The home was beautifully decorated, clean and well stocked.-we needed nothing but food.
The owner of this property quickly responds and is very accommodating. The home is close to the town of Littleton. Plenty of room for the family to spread out from the indoor spaces to the outdoor screened in porch and dock. Loved the water toys (paddle boards, kayak, noodles, floats, paddleboat). Nature at its best with the birds, squirrels, egrets, turtles and bats. The firepit is an added bonus and if I'd brought my dog the fenced area would have been perfect. We loved every minute of our family reunion.

We loved our stay at Cardinal Cove! We found it very clean and exactly as advertised. It’s located in a quiet cove with beautiful morning views. Family Lake Fun!
This house worked perfectly for our family of ten. We spent our days on the dock and in the water in this peaceful cove. The kayaks, paddle board, and paddle boat provided hours of fun! We’d love to come back again!

Great lake getaway
This property was everything we wanted, needed and hoped it to be. We were sold on the location and the availability of kayaks and the paddle board! We all enjoyed using them, and the cove location made it great to enjoy the water sports since it was protected and out of the wind. The kitchen had more pots and pans and dishes that you could possibly use. In fact, I am on a mission to find the everyday bowls and plates that were in the kitchen. We spent all of our time on the dock, in the water or at the firepit, so we really didn't miss the tv that much I guess. :) We would stay there again! We also were very close to the Pontoon Boat rental location, and we enjoyed fabulous weather on the lake and were able to load our food, etc. on to the boat from the dock without dragging everything to the marina. Beware the steps, so if you have accessibility issues, the stairs could be an issue. The only downside for us was that we do not have AppleTV or Chromecast accounts, so we missed watching Sunday night and Monday night football (or we just didn't know how to use them). There was plenty to do otherwise, so I hate to even mention that. The owner's were very responsive to our questions in trying to help use get it to work. I gave our stay 5* because it was truly a great getaway. Thanks so much for a great spot!

Amazing late summer weekend
House was amazing, loved the multiple porches, couch on the dock, fire pits, great kitchen and so much more. Can't wait to hopefully come back!
