I don't like to leave poor reviews but this particular landlord has some very unusual rules and likes to intrude on your vacation. I will start out with the fact that the house is clean and in great shape, however the owners only share house rules once you are ready for check in, so I will share them here so you can decide for yourself if this is the situation you want for your vacation:
1. AC and Thermostat- You have to text the. owner to have them adjust the thermostat and they will do so if they choose. In other words if you like it cooler than 72 when you sleep, you are out of luck.
2. Toilets- They have signs posted in the bathroom that read "If it doesn't come out of your body, don't put it in the potty". 3rd world type of rules, not Florida.
3. Trash- Not only do you have to save your number 2 business toilet paper in the trash, they tell you that you have to put it in your car and take it home with you. Text from owner: "As a reminder that you please keep all garbage inside and take it with you upon departure. Given your location in a rural area-there are wild animals, any garbage left outside in the trash bin poses a dangerous situation for house guests. Any trash left behind will incur penalties." What a treat. Just for reference the house is in a community with kids running around during day and evening hours. The parents of those children must not like them very much. (sarcasm)
4. Ring Cameras- They have 2, one on the front door and one on the back door, both exterior but they use these to monitor you. Case in point, when our daughter arrived with her husband and kids, there was a strong chemical odor in the house. We told them to open up the house and let it air out. Well she did and as soon as she did that I received this text from the owner "Hey Mike, there are poisonous spiders and lots of wasps and other insects that will get in with those doors open. The doors cannot stay open". This was unacceptable to me so I immediately put a bandaid over the ring camera which brought a wrath of texts, phone calls and emails threatening to evict and charge me for vandalism. The male owner even said he was calling the local sheriff (his friend) on me. I of course would have been happy to chat with that sheriff about the situation, but of course we had no such visitors.
The bottom line is that the property is nice but is ruined by ownership that has no business being in the VRBO rental business.
