Loved this cottage for its beautiful yard (esp. hydrangeas and field), glorious views from the master bedroom and proximity to the West Quoddy State Park. The trails at Quoddy were superb and the striped lighthouse was a bonus (go for a sunset!). Campobello Island in Canada is nearby. A 30-minute-ish tour of FDR’s summer cottage on the island was worthwhile. (No entry fees. Bring your passport.) Watch “Sunrise at Campobello” DVD at the cottage before going. It tells the story of Franklin D. Roosevelt's life from 1921, the year he was diagnosed with polio while at the cottage, through 1924. I plan to stay at this pleasant cottage again soon!

The cottage was cozy, quaint, and everything we were hoping for! It was the perfect place for a relaxing, and quiet getaway. Great location in between the town center and West Quoddy light. Fun beaches to explore nearby, and the grounds were beautiful. We loved walking our dog through the field and down to the edge of the water. The house was cozy and clean! Amazing sunrises and sunsets. Highly recommend, and we hope to return!

Peaceful retreat

Excellent property, incredible views, nice decks to relax on, and just a beautiful surrounding! We had everything we needed! Close to Quoddy Head, lots of hiking, we even drove out to the sand bar at low tide to watch people clamming! Bed was so comfortable, overall 5 stars and we would rent again! Thank you, Catherine for the lovely gift bag full of Maine goodies, and the special touches throughout the home.

Peace by the bay

Light filled, excellently designed, perfectly furnished, stunningly situated cottage. 2 bedrooms up steep stairs with high comfy beds. Full baths up and down, super deep and long tub. Every need is anticipated, including local products and guide books, mud boots, rain and beach gear, shopping bags and coolers. Spices and some condiments were on hand. I have never been more comfortable with a rental. The area is hiker heaven and good for boat tours. Lubec brewery and Doghouse are great. Cobscook Institute has interesting programs. Lots to do if desired but also nice to walk the sandbar or sit still.

Lubec in June !

The flowers around the cottage are stunning in late June, just everywhere, all colors. Views are beautiful from every room. We were lucky to have beautiful sunny weather, for Maine residents it might have been a heat wave, for southerners just a nice warm day to enjoy ! The upstairs window airconditioner worked perfect to keep both bedrooms cool for the one warmer night.

weekend away

my husband and I stayed at this adorable cottage to watch our daughter run the 1/2 marathon in Lubec. What a beautiful spot!! our only complaint is that we didn't have enough time to fully enjoy this gem of a place!! I highly recommend this cottage!!!

Wonderful stay in Lubec cottage

Mid June was lush, everything was green and many flowers in bloom, just lovely. Lots of hiking, birding, some kayaking and Campobello. Had some fog but headed inland a couple days and found clear skies. The cottage is inviting & clean and the studio is inspiring - my husband paints in there. A nice surprise to find the wonderful veggies and greens from Far Out Farms in the fridge. Had a great time and already booked for next year.

We spent a glorious week at this lovely cottage! This cottage is an absolute gem! We have visited Lubec many times and the lodge we usually stayed in was booked so we tried this rental. It is our new favorite! The property owner, Catherine, is exceptional - she has added many touches to the rental that are over and beyond what a traveler expects from a rental. I am a horticulture professor and naturalist, my husband is a hobby photographer, and we are both avid birders. This property was perfect for our interests. The views are unparalleled - there are several decks, all with views of the water. There is a path through a wildflower meadow that leads to the marsh where a fire pit and seating provides a front-seat view to the bay. The wildlife is astounding - several uncommon species can be found in the marsh and on the property. Sunrise is magnificent, whether viewed outdoors or indoors from the main deck or the bedroom deck. The cottage is a well loved and maintained piece of local history - antique furnishings and decor along with historical references throughout the cottage, many are timeless and add to the charm of the cottage. The cottage decor and furnishings invoked warm childhood memories of my grandparents and aunts and uncles no longer with us. The kitchen is well equipped and functional, with plenty of room to prepare meals, and a grill is also provided on the deck. We just lost our precious dog before our trip, this was a much needed getaway. We loved this rental!

Fantastic!!

This cottage is a breath of fresh air! It was just what we needed to restore us. Beautiful views of the marsh and ocean. I loved waking up to those views each day from the bedroom! We sat and watched so many birds and the tide change each day from the upstairs balcony. My teens had a wonderful time. This was their third visit to the cottage while growing up and it is their favorite place they’ve ever stayed. This trip was a graduation present to my son (this very cottage is where he asked to stay again and it’s the reason we came to Lubec). Even though we’ve only stayed 3 times over the years (due to distance from NC) our favorite family memories have been made here!! The cottage is perfect for nature lovers. It is well stocked with everything you need for an enjoyable and relaxing time and perfectly situated near great hiking at West Quoddy, Boots Cove Preserve, Cutler, Cobscook Trails and Campobello. We’ve enjoyed all. Catherine is a wonderful host. Kind and thoughtful. She left a great welcome bag as well:) The grounds of the cottage are beautiful with blooming flowers and nice touches. We were excited to see the new addition of a patio and lounge chairs outside of the art studio. The view from these chairs is beautiful. All 4 of us sat there many hours reading and drawing and looking out into the marsh. We used the grill and ate on the deck and the grill was clean and in great condition. The cottage has a cozy and relaxed feeling. It’s a special place indeed!!

Beautiful View!

This charming cottage exceeded our expectations! The view was AMAZING and the beds and furniture were so comfortable! Its a cottage, so there are a few quirks that add character, but it's very clean and the personal touches show a lot of love for the home. Outdoor furniture is plentiful and comfy... my favorite was reading on the swing watching the birds over the ocean! Catherine was a wonderful host answering our questions promptly and checking in with us. We loved our stay!

Cozy cottage, gorgeous views

If you’re looking for peace and quiet and glorious views across Lubec Bay to Campobello and the open ocean, Lubec Bay Cottage is the perfect retreat. The cottage is clean and welcoming. It feels spacious and has plenty of indoor and outdoor areas to sit and soak up the scenery. It’s extremely well-provisioned with everything, from the usual essentials, to waterproofs and rubber boots, to Kleenex. The beds are very comfortable, although a little high if you're short! There's a walk-in shower on the ground floor.The cottage is conveniently located just a few minutes’ drive from West Quoddy State Park, Lubec village, and Campobello Island. The area is excellent for hiking, with many trailheads just a short drive away. If you're looking for a change of scenery, Eastport is about a 50 minute drive.The WIFI was on the slow side, but was completely reliable for the duration of our stay and had no trouble connecting a mid-morning Zoom call. We didn’t miss cable TV – the DVD selection was more than varied enough to keep us happy.Catherine is an excellent host, responding quickly to questions and providing an extremely thorough travel/welcome letter. Unlike some hosts, after a call shortly after arrival to make sure everything’s OK, she leaves you in peace to enjoy your vacation. We’ve stayed in Lubec several times before, and Lubec Bay Cottage is the nicest place we’ve stayed by far. We’d be likely to return if it’s available next time we visit.

Beautiful place on the water in Lubec!

Overall, our stay in Lubec was amazing! The location was fantastic - beautiful views, and less than 10 minutes from town. The house was lovely and well supplied. The lobster pot was perfect and the kitchen was very well stocked. There were a lot of flys in the house during our week there. Never did figure out where they came in the house, but they were bad and they did bite! Also a lot of spider webs that had not been knocked down in a while. The upstairs deck furniture cushions were too dirty to use, which was a little disappointing because the view is awesome! As stated, the stairs up to both bedrooms are very steep! We are in our 60s and it was worrisome every time one of us went up and down… The washer and dryer were fantastic! It was difficult to see oncoming traffic when you pulled out of the driveway, and unfortunately, some of the beautifully blooming bushes need to be trimmed for safety. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and this home would be ideal for younger folks who are not bothered by some very steep steps to get to the bedrooms!

Beautiful!!

The setting as well as the home itself are spectacular! The house is cozy, has everything you can think of, and the views are stunning! Our kids had a blast playing in the marsh at low tide- it is like a different world. We really loved this stay and hope to return again.

Pure relaxation in this sea house

From the moment we unlocked the door this sea house had a calm , cozy, relaxed feel. This sea home is one that I will remember.. The charm of this home feels comfy and warm. Not to mention, a beautiful gift. The owner was lovely and very gracious.

A beautiful, comfortable, peaceful retreat

This house had everything we could want: a well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture, and two beautiful decks with spectacular views overlooking the ocean. This was our first visit to this part of Maine, and we loved the quiet and absence of crowds. There was even a separate art studio next to the main house! We look forward to coming back.

Beautiful Cove Rental

I rented with husband and dog. Cottage is easy to find. Located adjacent to sand bar. Cottage has a great, large deck to enjoy the coming and going tides and clam diggers. Loved sitting out each morning. Very quiet area. The peacocks visited each day. The cottage is quaint and lovely. Well equipped with everything. Lots of things to do: Quoddy Light House, Hamilton Cove, Boot Cove, Eastport. Water Street Tavern is a great place to eat. I wish we had found it sooner. Best to make reservations. Catherine is a great host. Dickens the dog enjoyed his stay too. Backyard is great place to walk the dog. It was so nice to wake each morning to a seaview. I would stay again.

Beautiful Views!

Our family of three had a great time at this cottage and it provided a perfect home base to explore! This home had everything we needed from comfortable beds, a well-supplied kitchen, and fantastic views. Wifi worked well. We loved sitting on the main deck and watching the tides. We walked from the house to beach a few times to explore at low tide. There is a propane lobster pot that we used to cook live lobsters outside which we bought at H&D/Shore Thing. We cooked a lot but also ate a nice meal at Inn on the Wharf and Cohills in town. Both excellent. From the cottage you can quickly access beautiful coastal trails, some less than 10 minutes away! Visiting Campobello Island is super easy as well. We loved the area, no large crowds. Lovely decorations and touches throughout the home. The farmers market items were a nice touch as well as the goodies! Thank you for a week of wonderful memories!

Beautiful place!

This was a great place to stay – close to Quoddy Head State Park, and to the center of Lubec. Beautiful views from the back deck and second floor deck, and from the path behind the house that leads to a sitting area, with chairs. Creative tasteful decoration of the house. A short walk, or an even shorter bicycle ride, brings you to Bar Road where you can walk right out to the beach.

Second stay in this lovely house

I want to live here. I love the location, walking out to the fire pit seating area, the house decor, deck, and comfy beds. Proximity to town as well as Quoddy Head hiking trails. Good distance for day trips to Acadia and other lovely Maine spots. Catherine responded quickly to every message I sent. Smooth check in process too. I hope to stay here again and again.

Fresh Air and Beauty

3 friends and I stayed at Catherine's place for the weekend, and we had a wonderful time. The house is well appointed with your needs, like spices, and utensils; as well as personal and local touches like a welcome bag, and handmade soaps. The house is close to beautiful sights such as the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, and Herring Cove in Canada. Many beautiful places to hike, explore, and be laid back. We lost power, and I messaged Catherine, and she answered right away. The power came on just in time for our evening meal. I would definitely go back to Catherines place again. It is beautiful to see the landscape from most windows in the house. Thank you Catherine!

Great stay for birdwatchers

A beautiful and ideal setting for birdwatchers and nature lovers. We had a wonderful time, loved the location for going to many birding hotspots, and totally enjoyed sitting out on the incredible deck overlooking the bay. The house is well stocked with any and everything you might need to enjoy your stay.

Relaxing

My husband and I stayed here for a relaxing getaway! Exactly what we needed. The cottage is beautiful, cozy with stunning ocean views and sunrises! Our pups loved running through backyard and grass! A quick ride down the road brought us to the beach where we explored for hours and found some sea glass.

Great spot for our anniversary

My wife and i decided to spend our anniversary here and fell in love as soon as we walked in.This little cottage was perfect oir little get away. The style and layout was just what we was looking for. Both upper and lower deck made the view even better. We loved the outdoor seating on the beach. I would recommend this place for a great little get away
