The house we rented at Manitou Beach had a great location looking onto the lake. There is just one very quiet road between the house and the lake. Across the street is a kids' playground, so great for young families. There is more seating in the yard than in the house,, so it would be a more suitable rental in the summer than in the rest of the year.
The house itself, however, was disappointing. The website stated that it slept 10 people. It had 3 bedrooms, one with a single bed with a trundle bed. However, the only way to use the trundle bed was to close the door to make room for the full bed. Then you were locked in the room unless you got up and returned the trundle to its place under the twin bed.
The house was cobbled together out of three different tiny dwellings and in between the sections there were several inches difference in the height of the floor. Good for tripping.
There was one couch (hideabed) which meant that if the four of us wanted a comfortable seat, we had to sit all in a row. There was no other comfortable seating in the house.
The only bedding provided were sheets and a thin cotton coverlet on each bed. We were all cold the first night. I contacted both the owner and the agent in the town and we were given blankets for the duration of our stay.
There were a lot of flies and bugs in the house. No bedbugs, but very annoying to find a bug crawling on the couch or on me.
The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils.
