Overall, this was a good place to stay. With a little work, it could be a great place. First, here's what I found to be good:
-Good location. Near a lot of retail and restaurants. Although it was near a very busy street (main thoroughfare), I was not bothered with excessive noise.
-Privacy. This property is split into two units: a front and back. I stayed in the back unit and I don't regret the decision. There was a small, shady patio area in the back that was an enjoyable place to have a glass of wine after a long day. Inside I could occasionally hear people walking in the adjoining rental (not unlike most apartment buildings), but it was not a significant bother.
-Off street parking. The rear unit requires you to drive to the back of the property along a narrow driveway, but there is ample room to turn your car around. This avoids a long backup in reverse as you leave. I appreciated the privacy of having the car off the street.
Now for the not so good. There weren't severe shortcomings and none would prevent me from renting the property again. However all posed inconveniences and should be fixed.
-The dishwasher didn't work. It didn't appear to have worked in a while.
-The icemaker didn't work. Nor were there any ice trays. I had to purchase a bag of ice from a nearby Kroger.
-What seems to have been a roof leak has caused ceiling damage in the kitchen. The area was a couple feet in diameter and the drywall was peeling away and pieces had fallen on the top of the refrigerator.
-The sitting/television room has 10-12 feet of windows. Unfortunately, nearly all of the blinds for these windows had bent and missing slats. This would make privacy a concern for many.
-The bed linens appeared to have been washed and cleaned, but they were very old. The sheets and pillowcases were dingy and old. I always bring my own pillow and I'm glad that I did. The pillows on the bed were very stained. The mattress however had a protective liner and was extremely comfortable. The bedspread was very worn.
-The towels were in a bit better condition than the bed linens but not by much.
Overall, for the price this was a good place to stay and I would stay here again. I suggest to any property owner that if you want a 'good' property to appear 'great' to your tenants, be aware of the linens, particularly the bedding. Plush towels and clean, new(ish) bedding gives a resort feel to a rental.
