This was a once-nice villa, but in my experience, it is now a property with little maintenance and attention, other than some superficial improvements to make it rentable. The furniture (especially the kitchen and bedrooms) was cheap and flimsy, including our bed which was broken but concealed from us. It fell apart in the middle of the night. How do I know it was broken? When i looked under the bed, I found the broken center support was propped up with a stack of about 10 books!!! Simply amazing. In addition, there were multiple electric outlets broken, several missing light bulbs, and non-working kitchen items. The kitchen was not well stocked and the area was not very clean. I have pictures to support my rating. On the outside, the landscaping was overgrown, the chairs were moldy, and the views were blocked by over grown trees...not what was marketed. The response I received from the rental company (who I thought was VRBO) was slow and unclear. Our issues were never resolved. I have been greatly disappointed in VRBO in Italy on this trip. We rented 6 different properties in Northern Italy over the course of a month. Of the 6, 2 were very good, 1 was unbelievably bad, 2 worked out OK despite being different than what VRBO represented, and this property in Menaggio served our needs albeit with the issues noted above. Absent improvements, I would not stay here again. Re VRBO, I have significant doubts about their slogan that "Weve got your back". We will see.
