Casa Maria provided a wonderful respite and opportunity for life long friends to reconnect in the solitude of the north woods. The home was spacious beyond imagining. There ARE in fact five (5) dedicated bedrooms (although only 4 bedrooms are photographed and part of the 3D tour) each with its own bathroom. There is also a half bath off the foyer/kitchen area. We thoroughly enjoyed the landscaped patio area with fire pit (some wood provided) and the loon serenade - some coyote baying as well. A couple of things worth noting: 1) GPS indicates you’ve arrived at your destination a mile or more before you actually do, 2) you travel down a gravel, pot-holed, and steep drive to reach Casa Maria, 3) the keypad to access the house is on the garage service door, not the overhead door, and 4) bring bottled water to brew coffee (tap water is very iron tasting). Highly recommend biking the trail from Manitowish Waters to Boulder Junction, hiking at WinMan Park, lunching at Dixie’s, and dining at Aberdeen. Our adult group of 10 is already planning next year’s stay.
The low score for communication is because there is NO property manager on site. You must communicate with Vacasa, and they clearly have no eyes on the property. I had multiple text chats and a phone conversation prior to our reservation trying to get definitive information about the fifth bedroom. They simply regurgitated what was written in the listing.
