We stayed in the cottage for a week and change in early August. It was rainy way more often than we would have liked, but we made the best of it. The lake is definitely the highlight. It's a lovely lake, quiet with lots of coves and islands to explore. Most of the time we felt like we had the water to ourselves.
The cottage itself is comfortable and spacious for all of us to be inside and have some personal space. But sadly, there is no covered outdoor space to escape the rain or hang wet stuff protected from the next downpour. The deck is huge and would be a fantastic place to lounge and watch the water, but there's no furniture to do so.
The location is definitely off the beaten path. We occasionally heard another car, but mostly it felt like we were out in the woods.
Unfortunately, one issue keeps us from wholeheartedly recommending this cottage. The listing said there is a washer and dryer, and we packed expecting them. When we arrived, we couldn't find them and asked the host if they were hidden some where (there's a garage and lots of locked closets, so it seemed possible). We were told there's no laundry. They were apologetic, but also said that other guests have had the same question and they didn't know why the listing was inaccurate. The nearest laundromat is an hour away. We opted to make a day trip to Lunenburg and had a picnic while the clothes tumbled. Not the end of the world, but a pretty significant inconvenience to be sure.
