The good news is that the property is visibly clean, and it is near bike and walking trails.
It served as a good base for our visit.
Unfortunately, this is the kind of experience that makes us never want to use short term rentals again. The place smelled heavily of air freshener or some kind of odor masker that never went away in the 10 days we were there. We kept the windows open for as much of the day as we could, but the smell would return as soon as the windows were closed.
The outside of the property was poorly maintained. The back walk to the parking area was overgrown with weeds and the sidewalk has settled a few inches around the concrete side steps. This means that when you take your last step, it’s very long. If you have any balance issues, it could be a problem. To open the windows, you have to push open the outside storm windows, which all had spiderwebs and were kind of gross.
The property is a duplex. Our neighbors tended to get up pretty early. Like 3 o’clock in the morning. They weren’t terribly noisy, but you could hear them. Though late one Saturday night there was a heated argument next door that left me awake for a while, wondering whether I should call the police. Luckily it didn’t seem to escalate beyond prolonged and loud arguing.
All in all, it wasn’t horrible, it was just kind of like an old cheap motel. From now on, for these prices, we’ll stay in a decent hotel.
