Stunning Location
The floor to ceiling windows in the family room let is so much natural light along with beautiful views of the lake. The kitchen and pantry were both huge and accommodated our group with room to spare, no matter what you were cooking or prepping. We enjoyed many meals and games around the dining room table. We were there in January so no chance to enjoy the lake. We were able to take some walks and visit Ramulose Ridge Vineyards. The peach sangria is amazing! We felt secluded but were only 10 minutes from the Food Lion. We've made many treasured memories at Smith Mountain Lake, and this gets added to the list. Thank you to the host for all his efforts to remove ice from the driveway for our arrival and departure.

Family Thanksgiving
Kitchen was well stocked, but bring extra trash bags. Only 2 hand towels provided. Extra Pillows available, but no pillow cases. We brought extra blankets, thankfully. While preparing Thanksgiving meal, lost electricity 3 times, 2 hours, 30 minutes, 20 minutes. Took some investigating to get updates on the power outages. Setting and outdoor amenities were great. Be prepared for the very steep driveway.

Fantastic fall visit to Smith Mountain Lake
My wife and I, our 4 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and our granddaughter spent last week at Blue Heron Point. Our bedrooms were comfortable and the family room gave great views of the lake and the trees with the changing color of the leaves. We took turns cooking meals, and I have to say this is one of the best kitchens I have ever encountered. The appliances were top-notch, and we had plenty of room for multiple people to work on meal prep together. We also played some pool, and unlike some houses, there was plenty of room to line up shots. The party deck is also spacious and gives a great view of the lake, and we make frequent use of the kayaks. We also enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. And I almost forgot to mention, the house was well stocked with paper goods and hand soap, and other little extras that let us know the owners really care about the happiness of their guests. The bottom line - there is everything you need at Blue Heron Point for a great family vacation!

Wonderful fall getaway
We had a wonderful long weekend at Blue Heron Point! The weather was beautiful for October and we enjoyed spending time together as a family sitting on the dock, kayaking, sitting in the hot tub, playing corn hole and sitting around the fire pit. The house is beautiful and was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We would definitely recommend this place to others!

Annual Friends Vacation
This home is warm and inviting. There was plenty of room for our group of 8 to spread out. We each enjoyed cooking in the fabulous kitchen. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could ask for when it came to preparing meals. We would recommend this home to anyone looking for a large place with great views.

SML 2024
This was our third year at SML! Brought two other families, the house was spacious and plenty of room on the dock and around the house for fun for all to have. Kids loved jumping off the dock and swimming while we were not on the boat. Couple issues came up, but the owner acted quickly and took care of it.

Blue Heron Point with the Farmer family
Our family had a wonderful time, we did lots of swimming and fishing at the dock. We rented a pontoon boat, which everyone loved. The kitchen was awesome, we cooked some great dinners, very nice pots and pans, and everything else you could imagine was in the kitchen. The house had great rooms, and enough bedrooms for the whole family. Yes we would definitely come back.

Great house right on the lake
The owners did a great job communicating with us. They provided a lot of great amenities: towels and sheets (no beach towels, but we used bath towels as there were plenty), bath soap and shampoo/conditioner, kayaks, paddle board, floaties, plenty of kitchen appliances (drip coffee maker and keurig), spices, Tupperware, foil, plastic wrap. They provided so much I feel like I’m forgetting something. It was such a relaxing week for all of us.

Everything we needed
So much room inside. They provided all the conveniences of home. Most of our time was spent outside on the docks. We loved that we had access to the kayaks, paddle boards and floating toys that they had available down by the docks. My son brought his boat and there was access to tie up at the dock. Three days was not enough time for us. We will definitely book again for a week.

Peaceful Lakefront Vacation
If you haven’t been to Smith Mountain Lake, you should visit. We had a great week at this large, beautiful home. The space in the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and billiards room downstairs was plentiful. We also took advantage of the kayaks and dock area. The part of the Lake where the house is located is quiet, so that was appreciated. It also is pretty close to the local food store, great ice cream shop, and don’t forget Vinnie’s pizza.

Family get together
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Blue Heron. The house was great. The views outstanding. Unfortunately our visit was too short to explore the Smith Mountain area. We want to come back and stay longer to enjoy all the amenities and activities the house and area offers..

Lovely lakehouse for family/friends
Beautiful property with amazing screened porch, grill, dock, and ridiculously large kitchen. Worked out great for four families, all with kids, to stay for a week. The only downside was that the kids were too young to really enjoy all the water activities and the nearest attractions/playgrounds were a drive. Recommend for families with kids that are old enough to swim. Oversight on our part, not a flaw of the house.

What a fabulous place. The house was amazing, the view was spectacular and it was just perfect. We came for a memorial for my sister who passed away a month ago. After the service the family came back to the house and enjoyed each other. The home was so large it gave many areas to hang out all with a beautiful view

Family Holiday Get Together
Lovely home in a great location. Steep hill to house but once you knew what to expect we could deal with it. The house has to be numbered at the top of hill for better identification. Everyone had a great time. Would definitely stay again.

Nice House
I would definitely rent this house again. I read a few complaints about the steep driveway. We didn’t mind it at all, the alternative would be a long steep walk down to the lake or a whole lot of stairs. This house has a relatively short walk down to the dock/lake. Located in a nice quite cove!

This lake house was lovely. It was on a great part of the lake with easy access to amenities. The house was clean and easily accommodated our large group. The house was private and had deep water off the dock. It is a steep trip down to the lake, but with planning ahead you can eliminate unnecessary trips back up!

Couldn’t flush toilets!
It was emabarassing, I rented the not cheep to me place and there was no running water but sporadically. Couldn’t get showers everyday unless you babysat the faucet. I called the phone number left and she chuckled and said it was a known problem. We couldn’t flush the toilets at times! Half the outside lights didn’t work, including the ones on the stairs to the deck. Top step going down literally broke and my friend fell down every step. When originally renting it didn’t mention that the driveway was extremely steep. Was mentioned in pretrip text a week before. Pictures should included one of all the steps going down to the dock. We made the most of a bad situation, but what else could we do after driving all the way to get there. No consistent running water and I mean not a drop at times. That’s unacceptable to me. To much money to not be able to take a shower after swimming in the lake all day. We have stayed at SML 4 years in a row without any issue like this. Will not stay at there properties ever again and will warn others to avoid. You knew about the water situation and still rented and didn’t even discuss with me?
