Lovely villa in a beautiful location.

First, I was concerned we would be a little out of the way, and the good news is that we were. The views from the house are tremendous, and there are three towns within 10 minutes with a few lovely restaurants. These towns are charming and are not swarmed over with tourists. But if you want the crowds, Pienza and Matacino are within 20-30 minutes and there are a ton of other lovely well known cities like Cortona and Maltapuciano less than an hour away. Walking the gravel road that the house is on is 2.5 miles round trip, and a lovely walk with perfect vistas and grazing sheep. The landscaping around the house is elegant (although I would like to see the hedge around the pool trimmed a little lower as it does block a little of the view when in a lounge chair). The house is roomy and well furnished, although the kitchen is a bit small. The one criticism I would give, is that if we were a larger party, the out door seating is very limited. It really needs a comfortable sitting set with more than four seats both on the patio as well as next to the pool. But I would highly recommend the house, and would come back without hesitation.

The villa is huge and well appointed with anything you could imagine There are two large dining rooms inside and several well appointed outside patio areas. The bucolic setting includes birds , roaming sheep down the hill meandering from field to field. Couldn’t be more restful! Also close enough to Siena , San gimingnano Assisi for day trips and even Florence Will definitely return.

We absolutely loved our stay at this villa! It was just wonderful, and Luigi was a fantastic host! The views from every part of the villa are amazing! It was so fun to see all of the sheep each morning and watch the sunset in the evenings. We were fortunate enough to be in town for the olive festival in Montisi, the quaint little village just a few miles away. We had a blast! The recommended chef who cooked for us at the villa, Giancarlo from the Tuscan Chef, was incredible! What a fantastic recommendation! We also loved the food in town at Cantina 97. It was awesome! We hope that we can come back to this special villa again someday!

We were a group of 4 couples and found there was plenty of room for all of us. The property as better in person than we had expected. We had a car so it was really easy to get around and see all the towns nearby. Very beautiful property with great vistas. So relaxing to hang out at the pool or the deck.

We loved everything about the Villa and the property. We were 3 couples, the villa could easily handle 4 couples or even up to 10-12 people if sharing a bathroom was not a concern. We used the pool, both outdoor sitting spaces, cooked a couple meals, went for walks around the property, watched netflix a little and had the Tuscan Chef from nearby Montisi come to the villa and cook us dinner one night. We visited Pienza, Montepulchiano, Montacino, Assisi and Siena. Highlight restaurants were La Grotto in Montepulchiano and Boccon Divino in Montacino but every meal we had on our vacation was wonderful. The food is so good. I'd also recommend Ercolani Winery in Montepulchiano, its an in-town winery but their private tasting tour with food was well worth the time. The host, Luigi, was great. He met us at the villa and showed us around, gave us restaurant tips and answered all of our questions. We would very much rent this place again.

Hosting a reunion of family and friends at this lovely Villa was a wonderful experience.. Nearly five weeks of managing guests rotating in and out went quite easily. Luigi was an exceptional property manager that met needs promptly and was always eager to answer questions and make recommendations for things like local dining. The pool and grounds were lovely and well maintained. I would love to return at some point in the future.

This year we visited places that were closer to the villa, because we knew we wanted to spend more time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful home and pool. Last year, we went to all the major sites, Cortona, Siena, Pienza, and Montepulciano, all within an hour or 1.5 hrs. from the villa. The home was once again well equipped with everything we needed, large refrigerator, great oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, and outdoor grill. The owner, Luigi, is very responsive, friendly and helpful. The views are magnificent, and we loved watching the sheep move from field to field every day. The pool is glorious and well kept along with the beautiful landscaping. We already booked the villa for next summer. We imagine we'll be going for many years to come.

We had a great stay and Luigi was super helpful with local advice on wineries and local chefs. The house location is peaceful and quiet with beautiful sunsets from the large covered veranda. We had a great family reunion.

Spectacular is all we can say. Beautiful property and grounds, incredible views and sunsets and you’ll never find a better host than Luigi! Also highly recommend the Tuscan Chef to prepare dinner for you at the Villa. Our chef was Giancarlo and he was the best- entertaining and an amazing chef.

We had a grand stay at Villa Il Poggio this past June. It is an amazing property set high up on a hill offering 360 degree views over the Tuscan hills. Every evening, with a glass of wine in hand, we watched the breathtaking sunsets, and even after two weeks, it never got boring. The villa is situated at the end of a winding road off the main road to the town of Montisi – hence it is completely private and bucolic. The villa has formal living and dining areas but the two terraces overlooking the hills made dinner every evening an absolute treat. The place is completely set up for cooking inside or outside on the grill and therefore a perfect place for a family gathering. The villa is incredibly well taken care of and the property manager, Luigi, is just a phone call away. One evening, we realized we were out of firewood for grilling on the terrace. We called Luigi for advice as to where we might go to buy some, and he just turned up in a few minutes with all that we needed. The pool on the property is well kept, and we were impressed how the pool was cleaned every late evening. Surrounding the property are grazing meadows with hundreds of sheep that kept our grandkids entertained. The Town of Monitisi has pretty much everything one might need for a holiday. We could not have hoped for a more inviting and warm villa to celebrate a milestone birthday with loved ones. We hope to be back here again.

The house and the setting in the Tuscan hills of Montalcino is breathtaking. House is spacious and easily accommodated 10+ people providing plenty of privacy. The kitchen is small but very serviceable and a large refrigerator is an added bonus. After hot days discovering the surrounding hill towns , the pool was enjoyed by everyone. We bought floats at a local store and spent many late afternoons until sunset in the pool. Luigi is a gracious and generous host. He provided lots of recommendations, several bottles of wine and even secured several scarfs for us from the Montisi week-long celebration. We felt welcomed and well care for by Luigi. We will definitely go back for another visit. 14 days was not long enough!

When we pulled up the long gravel road and saw the incredible views, sheep, Cyprus trees, birds, and the gorgeous villa on the hill in the distance, we thought we had died and gone to heaven. Exhausted from traveling, we pulled up, unloaded our groceries, changed, and jumped in the pool. It was glorious. Luigi communicated with us the entire time up to our trip and during our stay. He was very helpful and provided an abundance of information on the surrounding area. Every day, we would drive to a village/city, then come back to the villa for a swim, dinner on the terrace, and then watch the incredible sunset over the hill. Montisi, which is 5 minutes down the road, is a quaint little village with a mini market, a bakery, a wine shop, a cinema, and a Trattoria. Worth a visit. The villa's grounds are beautifully landscaped with rosemary hedges, olive trees, rose bushes, and gorgeous flowers. The sheep were always fun to watch move around throughout the day. There are several co-ops in the area if you want to buy groceries for the week. We passed by Sinalunga often, so we typically used that grocery store. The villa is very large and can accommodate a lot of people. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is another small kitchen that we did not need to use. There's an outdoor grill on one of the terraces and plenty of indoor and outdoor sitting areas. This was one of the best vacations we have ever had, and we already booked the villa again for next year!

I think anyone that looks at these photos can see this place is very special. So expectations were high when we arrived. The only thing that came as a surprise to us was that there is a 1k dirt/gravel road leading from the main road to the villa. Just wasn't prepared for that in our rental car, but in the end, it was totally fine. But everything else exceeded those already very high expectations. We drove up with a flock of sheep grazing in the field adjacent to the property. The space is just expansive and beautiful. My wife and I took 3 of our adult children, 2 of which had just graduated from college, and 1 of their significant others, so we had a total of 6 adults in the villa. We loved everything about it. The swimming pool was wonderful on the warm Summer days and we loved just sitting around, reading and swimming. There's plenty of room for everyone, and everything you could possibly need. Luigi is the perfect host and made sure that if we needed anything, we had it quickly and efficiently. Make sure to do the private chef they recommend. We did it for 2 dinners during our week there. It was very reasonably priced, the food was absolutely delicious and we didn't have to do a thing. When the chef left, the kitchen was cleaner than when they had arrived. The same firm that provides the private chefs has a cooking school in town. We also highly recommend that. Just can't say enough. This property and Luigi the host are the best!!!!!

Das Haus und die Umgebung entsprachen genau den Bildern der Anzeige. Das Haus ist sehr groß und für unsere 3 Familien mehr als ausreichend - auch die Ausstattung an Geschirr usw. ist mehr als ausreichend. Man hat die Möglichkeit gemütlich beisammen zu sitzen bzw. auch mal für sich alleine zu sein - prima. Der Vermieter Luigi war super - hat uns eine Vielzahl an Lokation zukommen lassen (Restaurants, Sehenswürdigkeiten, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten usw.). Leider hatten wir wenig Glück mit dem Wetter - aber wie gesagt, das Haus ist groß genug um auch dann noch einen schönen Aufenthalt genießen zu können. Nochmals Danke an Luigi

Luigi has this property set up so guests can optimize spending time with family & friends. The pool, the patio, the grill and uncovered patio and all with one of the most gorgeous views in the world. (Not exaggerating ) Then inside he has 2 different dining tables to accommodate everyone plus 3 sofas to lounge upon. We loved having all of southern Tuscany to roam during the day and then the Villa to return to with our wine treasures to enjoy the evening. We truly had a very special time here and I’d like to return and do it all again. We arranged with The Tuscan Chef for 2 dinners and a cooking class at the Villa- so much fun and very delicious. We highly recommend them. Luigi is an excellent host and very responsive to questions and he also helped us communicate with businesses nearby, for which we are very grateful. Thank you, Luigi!

We very much enjoyed our stay! The home and property are beautiful! This is an old Tuscan villa, so remember that things are not new and perfect, but Luigi was very responsive to any need we had. The house was very comfortable and a great place for our family to spend a week exploring Tuscan towns. Luigi was most helpful in suggesting local guides to give us tours in neighboring towns and recommended a wonderful chef who prepared dinner for us two nights at the villa - a real treat and something we highly suggest! We hope to make it back one day soon!
